Wonderful book on a great lafy, April 10, 2011
This review is from: The Last Great Edwardian Lady (Hardcover)
What a fabulous book on one of the great ladies of our times; a true portrait, not a hagiography, as some other I have read. Mrs. Seward does not make out that QEQM was without faults and foibles, or that such were the correct view. But it is an intimate look at the life of the dear "Scottish lass'.
Some reviewers have complained that this is a book of fashion. To them I say, 'look to the title'. If you want a book that deals less with fashion, there are otherssuch as the offical biography by William Shawcros.
Personally, I love the fashion insights, for among other things they show how QEQM coped with needing to be fashionable while not being the 'in' silhouette, and as she aged. Like her daughter now, she always looked wonderfully stylish and appropriate, and dare I say it, queenly. She is much missed.

Informative biography of a Great Lady, July 11, 2010
This review is from: The Last Great Edwardian Lady (Hardcover)
The book arrived in perfect condition, as new. And I loved it. It was an informative
and charming biography of the Queen Mother and her family, and a good history of the times.
