Classic Scary, Fun Adventure Game,
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Last Half Of Darkness: Beyond The Spirit's Eye (CD-ROM)
I am surprised by the reviews here on Amazon for this game, and they are certainly not consistent with the great reviews on other sites like justadventure. I have been playing adventure games for many years and truly enjoyed this one. (I also played the first game in the "Last Half of Darkness" series, Shadows of the Servants, and that too was a great game. These games are even more amazing because they are the creation of essentially one man!) Beyond the Spirit's Eye had a interesting storyline and clever, fun puzzles that were well woven into the gameplay. I would characterize the puzzles as challenging, but not hard. Clearly one of the best and most enjoyable characteristics of this game is its creepy atmosphere. If you played and liked games like "Scratches" or "The 7th Guest" of "The 11th Hour" then you will like this game. I highly recommend it and am looking forward to the next game in this series.

Loved This Game,

I had no problems with this game.... ran very smoothly and was just the kind of game I enjoy. It didn't have the games or puzzles that I would have to spend hours thinking over before I ran to the walkthrough in total frustration. I found it to be worth every penny I spent on it and only wish it had lasted longer!

first things first....this game took me a long time to download...i couldnt get it to autorun ,i sat there for about 20 minutes before something popped up on my screen, not knowing if the game was actually working or not....be patient
beyond the spirits eye is a point and click adventure game with acceptable dark graphics...seemed old school to me...but it set the mood,i wouldnt say the game was scary, but it did have a couple demonic images that pop up every now and then. The story...( i am going to be brief here because all i remember was that your looking for the spirits eye which is some type of jewel..bad things have happened since it was found..and now hidden somewhere in the town) the puzzles are easy to medium...there are some inventory combining puzzles...levers to be switched..and a couple small puzzle games to do...overall i had fun with them.there was alot of things you pick up and have with you as you go along which i like. Navigating your way around seems a bit tough at first until you find the map...which is a big help...you can press on any of the locations and you auto zoom there...you will have to write down some of the puzzle locations so you remember where they are for easy navigating...it is not a very large town, but it was large enough to where i was having a little trouble remembering where i saw this or that..you must look in all directions (left) and (right) or you will miss some things.there isnt too much pixel hunting...everything is right in front of you. 3 stars for this game seems about right, you shouldnt need to look at a guide...if you dont get stuck, you can beat the game in a couple days or so..Its an ok game for any adventure fiend to pass the time..but this is no must buy...so so

Add this one to your collection as I have. I thoroughly enjoyed this game. This is another classic adventure game for all you avid adventure gamers out there like me. Prepare to be scared as this game has all the right elements, creepy atmosphere, scary places to explore, great sound effects, a good storyline and great puzzles to solve. Having played and enjoyed Last Half Of Darkness Shadow of the Servants I waited patiently for the next installment. WRF Studios you did it again!

Really enjoyed the game. It was just a great spooky adventure with wonderful graphics and music. The atmosphere was perfect and the story moved along well. Very entertaining. Gameboomers. com has a great walkthrough for those of us who need a little help. Makes it so much more fun.

I installed this game today and the install seemed to go without any problems. However, after the install and a reboot, I started the game and got the initial screen with the Play, Update, Register, etc. buttons. I clicked on the Play button but the program would never load. I tried several compatibility modes to no avail. Finally found out I had to manually rename a file from a .bak to a .dll. What kind of install is that? Could have been better.

Aftering reading some somewhat positive reviews about this game, I gave the demo a whirl before shelling out for the whole thing. Good thing I did. The graphics are really low budget, the voice acting is terrible, the movement ability is clunking and the fright gags are laughable. The best paranormal game out right now is "The Lost Crown", with "Dark Fall" and "Scratches" coming second and third. Get those instead and skip this.

Another game that doesn't run under x64, and another inadequate test from the developer side, it seems. Judging from the fact that a .BAT file is put as a shortcut to the start menu, I can easily tell that the developers doesn't even know what x64 is. Sorry, but we are in 2009, not in 1989.

Don't waste your money on this game, it is not what it is cut out to be. Crazy puzzles, and hard to solve.
