Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

Grade 4-6-In the second book in the trilogy, Josie Grace's family must close Grace Stables and find a new home for Hope. While she is patient and gentle, she has an allergy to gnat bites that causes her to rub and gnaw at her mane and other areas down to the skin. Josie can hardly bear to part with her horse, let alone have to defend her appearance to those who turn up their noses at her. When Friendship House, a facility that takes physically challenged children in for a week or two at a time, seems interested in Hope, the Graces think they have found the perfect home. An uplifting story that moves at a good pace.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great story, August 4, 2004
This was a very good book. The story is of the Grace family trying to find a new home for their horse Hope. Unlike Faith (the horse from the first book), Hope is very average looking if not a bit ugly. Due to her allergies Hope looks terrible and not many people are interested in buying her.

After thinking about donating Hope to the local PAWS animal sanctuary the Grace family is contacted by Jill, a woman from the local home for disabled children. Hope seems like the perfect horse for them due to her calm disposition and steady gait. Over the course of the book Josie learns more about how animals can help humans and finds the perfect home for Hope in the process.

I personally preferred this book to the first book in the series because the characters seemed more natural and focused more on helping each other. Overall an excellent series with good characters and sweet horses.
