5.0 out of 5 stars Simply Irresistable!!
For some reason I kept hearing Robert Palmers song as I read this wonderful book. It was so CHARMING....Peter is just a living DOLL!! Can I have one for my birthday??

I giggled so with poor Leslie's exasperation...I fear I will have to reread this one soon, just to savour the great writing...so refreshing!!

2.0 out of 5 stars High Potential, Low Delivery
The title is provocative, the story line is very promising, but the book ended up only so-so.

Peter is so cute, earnest, and funny, but he seemed a bit one-dimensional in his pursuit of Leslie. Katherine Deauxville didn't reveal much of his personality. I could not for the life of me figure out why he was so head over heels for Leslie, who seemed pretty...

5.0 out of 5 stars Sensational!, October 22, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: The Last Male Virgin (Mass Market Paperback)
What a story! Katherine Deauxville has really outdone herself on this one! THE LAST MALE VIRGIN is MUCH more than JUST A romance novel! Katherine has done some remarkable writing, here, weaving her meticulous research on the intricacies of the Washington, DC political and social scene - and the details of a lesser known primitive tribe from a remote part of the world - into an action-packed story of international intrigue and PASSIONATE love. The story touches on some important ecological issues, and presents a plot so engaging that the book is impossible to put down. The characters are strong and exciting, and the premise keeps you guessing, almost until the end. IS Peter Havistock REALLY a virgin? What was the REAL reason that this anthropologist came to the U.S.? To promote his treatise on "Determining Anthropological and Developmental Social Factors Among the Papua New Guinea Aborigines of the Antorok Valley?" OR - to woo Leslie, acting head of the 'dignified' Washington, DC-based international foundation that sponsored the U.S. lecture tours of such 'greats' as Goddard and Albert Einstein? What POSSIBLE motivation could Peter have? WHY does he seem to have such a penchant for stripping down to a 'costume' not much more substantial than a G-string? IN PUBLIC???? And what happens when Leslie realizes that this man, destined to become the love of her life, has deceived her to promote his cause? WHEW! This book is SPECTACULAR!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Last Male Vifrgin, October 1, 2002

Having surepticiously viewed the conduct of ladies while they watched all-male reviews I can appreciate Ms. Deauxville's candid and clever foundation for the character, Dr. Peter Havistock.

Her handling of the New Guinea locale and the pidgin language is skillful. As she weaves the story, from the fatal airplane crash with the loss of both parents; advancement through puberty on to his adult life without shame for his body and absence of sexual promisquity is excellent support for the mystery the reader will uncover.

The Last Male Virgin is one of those books you cannot put down without wondering: What next?

I liked it,found it moderately sensual, funny, serious and well worth recommending to others. Great cover, but far better on the inside. Don't cheat, read this one from page 1 to page 355. The ending will be your reward.

4.0 out of 5 stars this was refreshingly different....I LOVE the cover!!!, September 4, 2002
By
This review is from: The Last Male Virgin (Mass Market Paperback)
Dr. Peter Havistock has been raised from age fourteen by an Aborigine tribe
in Papua New Guinea since the plane that he and his parents were on crashed,
killing his parents. As Peter grew into an adult, he studied to become an
anthropologist and continued his parents studies of the Aborigine culture.
And he wrote a book of his experiences and travels to the country of his
birth to promote it on a widespread book tour of prestigious colleges in the
United States.

Leslie Hall-Gruman is the director in charge of escorting Dr. Peter
Havistock on his tour. Wimberly Foundation was founded by her prominient
family and she is very annoyed with the wild antics of Peter during his
tour, which she fears will disgrace Wimberly and her family's honor. From
his Antorok dance before a full house of Yale students in near naked native
costume, authentic G-string included, to his bold announcement of his
virginity on a live nationwide TV program, Leslie is in a frenzy. Peter is
more than handsome and has an extremely nice physique, so after these very
public events he becomes a media sensation, with hordes of desperate women
that are eager to get their hands on him and relieve him of his chaste
state. However, Peter wants Leslie and makes his desires known.

I found this story to be very humorous, from the hilarious antics of the
hero and the total exasparation of the heroine, to the overlong title of
Peter's book. It was a different story for me but I found it interesting
with outrageous scenes that made me laugh out loud more than once. And
drool....the hero was some kind of hunk!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A fun premise with a message, September 30, 2002
This review is from: The Last Male Virgin (Mass Market Paperback)
I thought the premise was a breath of fresh air. Ms Deauxville's hero was a captivating delight and quite unique in a very sexy intelligent sort of way. The premise was uniquely funny. I found myself chuckling throughout the book at both his antics and their innocense. And if there was any draw back to the read, I did want to shake the heroine a bit, because she just couldn't get over wanting to please her family instead of herself. I think at times she was a bit whiny and a bit self depreciating. But when you get to the final pages, she very nicely redeems herself much to the hero and reader's delight. Very unexpected and the imagery was very well done.
Her hero is destined to be a favorite of many a reader; so male, so alpha but oh so interesting complex. This one should be read because it takes humor and romance to new heights along a journey that is just plain fun made all the more desirable because it is well paced with a clear resolution at the end.THE LAST MALE VIRGIN is a wonderful place to escape to for an afternoon of humorous bliss.

5.0 out of 5 stars witty charm, fast-paced antics, and a twist of delight, November 7, 2002
By
This review is from: The Last Male Virgin (Mass Market Paperback)
Leslie Wimberly Hall-Grumman, known for her ability to handle the media wolfhounds like Maureen Boyd who hunted for that one story that would land them the Pulitzer Prize nomination, reached her wits end during the book tour her foundation scheduled for Dr. Peter Havistock. Convinced the tour cursed with aboriginal voodoo, she begged the CEO to release her from the contracted tour. Turning to the legal department and her ex-husband, she looked for legal ways to extradite herself and save her sanity.

Peter Havistock, Doctor of Anthropology and Paramount Chief over all minor Antorok Chiefs, known for his antics with the media and outrageous presentations, came to America to find the woman of his dreams. With his goals intact, Peter set out to turn the literary world up side down and to win the one and only woman he had desired since his early twenties.

Katherine Deauxville provides readers with witty charm, fast-paced antics, and a twist of delight with her new book THE LAST MALE VIRGIN. She exhibits talent for creating well-developed characters as demonstrated with the heroine's strong morals and the hero's vibrant curiosity. After you read this story of humorous romance, try another one by Katherine Deauxville and check out: OUT OF THE BLUE.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sexy and funny!, February 10, 2003
By
This review is from: The Last Male Virgin (Mass Market Paperback)
Leslie Wimberly knew that there would be trouble when her current charge, Dr. Peter Havistock appeared on "Harry" King Live in a native costume which included a rare bird plummage "codpiece". Then, he revealed, on national television that he was nearly thirty and had never had sex. To top it all off, he was a gorgeous male virgin at that. The tribe that had taken him in after his parents death in the wilderness had kept him apart from female contact, as was tradition for them, in the hopes that someday, he woudl marry and make an advantageous political alliance for them in the outside world. Further complications arise when Leslie catches his fancy, and he asks her to be that bride.

The next few weeks are spent trying to manage this difficult hunk, dodge women who want to deflower Peter, and hide from scandal sheets. Falling in love is not on the agenda, but it happens nonetheless.

***** This delightful screwball comedy will keep you in stitches from beginning to end. Not only is Peter a treat to visualize, but his combination of savvy and innocence is a refreshing change from the ordinary hero. Leslie typifies the highly stressed woman of today who needs the kind of escape Peter offers. This is just the charmer that you would expect from the woman who wrote OUT OF THE BLUE. ***** ...

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderfully written and Extremely entertaining!, December 1, 2002
By
This review is from: The Last Male Virgin (Mass Market Paperback)
I was highly delighted by this outrageous tale. The author does a great job of drawing the reader into the story and making the main characters interesting and likable. Several twists in the plot makes it a book you won't want to put down. I also enjoyed the peek into Washington social life and found the details about Peter's native home very fun and interesting. It is obvious that the Author did her research well. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a good read and is able to sit back and enjoy a good laugh.

Honestly, how could you pass up a book entitled The Last Male Virgin? The cover art was as intriguing as the premise - I'm glad I took the plunge. The heroine's character was likeable and the hero was a hunk. My favorite part was her dream about the virgin sacrifice, well worth the price of the book. It would make a cute movie with perhaps Brad Pitt playing the lead---not Sylvester Stallone, please.

My first review so I am virgin reviewer, so think it apt I chose the Last Male Virgin to wrote about. I saw this book won the RIO - Reviewers International Organisation's Dorothy Parker's Award of Excellence award, beating out Nora Robert and several other big names. And there is a reason. It's funny and I think perfect for a movie. Many books do not trasfer well to screen but this one and her other book Out of the Blue both would do well as a movie.

I enjoyed Peter Havistock and wish he was running around my neighbourhood. It was funny and utterly delightful.
