Not even great for a single, March 13, 2003
This review is from: Last Night on Earth Pt.2 (Audio CD)
I find it a little bothersome that people are recommending "All That YOu Can't Leave Behind" instead of this only because that is an album this is a single.
That being said, U2 singles pre-PoP were known to be just as good as the albums with B-Sides that were truly gems. However, Pop changed all that and it hasn't really progressed since then. U2's singles have become an adventure in remixes. As others have said, unless you are really looking for dance music, then this is not a single for you.
If you are looking for dance music, this still may not be the single for you. While I do not like U2's dance music phase in the remixes, I appreciate some of them for the songs themselves. On this CD, the only really greatness is in the Pop Music song, which is a nice little number even if you aren't dancing.
Happiness is a Warm Gun is a disappointment. Not really a dance mix, and not too much feeling involved. This song would of been great ala Bullet the Blue Sky with a bit more rock band oomph. Numb, is a great dance song without a remix, and this remix has to be one of the worst out all that exist. Last of all, the title song, is not really that great, I would say in the lower half if rating all the songs on Pop.
If you want some U2 music to dance to, get one of the remix CD's with Discotheque or go for the Elevation single. Perhaps the best item to get would be the U2, Best of, 1990-2000 which includes a B-Sides disc with the best of the remixes.

Ugh, March 14, 2001
This review is from: Last Night on Earth Pt.2 (Audio CD)
Unless you're really (and I mean REALLY) into dance music (hard core, not Jennifer Lopez), then you'd probably do well to forgo this recording. Parts of it ("Pop Muzik" and this version of "Numb") are absolutely torturous. There is an interesting, if uninspired cover of "Happiness is a Warm Gun". "Last Night on Earth" is just boring. I give it two stars because I guess it's okay as far as dance music goes, and U2 gets points for trying something new (not many points, but points nonetheless). However, I would suggest spending your on another U2 cd, such as "All That You Can't Leave Behind", "Achtung Baby" or "October."

Its a little different, December 13, 2000
This review is from: Last Night on Earth Pt.2 (Audio CD)
For traditional u2 fans, cover your ears cause this will leave you speachless. If you like techno club music {thats my stab at it} and dont particularly like u2, then you will probably love it.But for a hardcore u2 fan, i could not recognize any of the first three songs. The one star i gave was for Popmuzik, so be aware of what your after, for you will either love it or loath it like i do { its disgracefull }
