In the tradition of Aleksandar Hemon's The Question of Bruno and David Bezmozgis's Natasha, a stunning debut collection of short fiction that nails with deadpan irony the dislocations of exile and the disconnects of daily life.

This review is from: Last Notes: And Other Stories (Hardcover)
Some interesting theology in this engaging work: why Jesus was not a Jew (p28); why the best Lenten sacrifice would be to forego Mass (p24). And I now have a better understanding of the phrase 'to eat crow'. The nicest window on mitteleuropa since How I Came to Know Fish. 100% Canadian, Dobozy 'chanels' his ancestral land's troubled past with astonishing conviction
