5.0 out of 5 stars Hit it on the Nail!
Having read 3 of Mr. Rivera's previous books I was delighfully surprised at The Last Prejudice. There was a lot of insight in his portrayal of the 3 characters. I laughed and identified with so many of the scenes. I enjoyed the tie in with his previous books. Certain characters appear that were in the Chemah Rivers books. This book had me rethinking and shaking my...

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing Read!!!
This book was such a disappointment to me that I really wish I could have a refund for it!! I purchased it thinking that it would do right by its full-figured heroines but, alas, it did not!! I'd hoped to see women who were strong and not bound by their size. Instead what I read portrayed the women as desperate, loud, foul-mouthed, and far too accepting of too much...

This book was such a disappointment to me that I really wish I could have a refund for it!! I purchased it thinking that it would do right by its full-figured heroines but, alas, it did not!! I'd hoped to see women who were strong and not bound by their size. Instead what I read portrayed the women as desperate, loud, foul-mouthed, and far too accepting of too much B.S. by the male characters. Full-figured women have enough crap to deal with in reality without having their fantasy world dominated by it. Truly a disappointment!!

2.0 out of 5 stars Want to Read ... Not if I have to pay $11.99, October 22, 2010

Read a sample and while it's interesting and I want to read about characters involving TRUE plus size women, not enough for me to pay $12 for an ebook. When the book is reduced to a more acceptable price, i'll then seriously consider purchasing the book...

1.0 out of 5 stars I'll pass, September 16, 2009
This review is from: The Last Prejudice (Zane Presents) (Paperback)
I bought this book because I was interested in reading a book about plus-sized women struggling and finding love.

I should have read more reviews before I bought and payed more attention . I simply detested this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bringing Sexy Back, July 26, 2009
This review is from: The Last Prejudice (Zane Presents) (Paperback)
"The Last Prejudice" tells about the lives of three women - Noreen, Dahlia and Kat. Each woman wants the love of a good man. The common denominator of their weight is what binds them. Author David Rivera Jr., though his characters, deals with the struggles that plus-sized women may face. And not only plus-sized women, but the ups and downs women face with hidden insecurities and the rocky road of love. He did a wonderful job. I really enjoyed "The Last Prejudice" and hope that another book follows with a continuation of these characters.

This is the first book that I have read from this author and now I am hooked! This story was the bomb! Now I plan to read the first three in this series because I am beyond curious about his ex-wife Margarita and the things that she did in the past that caused their breakup and why her friend Kat is torn between her friendship with her and Chemah.

5.0 out of 5 stars (RAW Rating: 4.5) - Thick As Thieves, May 3, 2009

Who said voluptuous women were not soulful, provocative, sensual, sexy or hot? If you read, THE LAST PREJUDICE by David Rivera, Jr., you will find out that whoever said it, must not have known what they were talking about. Plus-sized divas, Noreen Klein, Dahlia Hunt and Kat Davis put all myths about big girls to rest and open the eye to some exciting new possibilities.

Noreen was comfortable with her size and was happy getting exactly what she wanted when she wanted it. Then the unthinkable happens and she has to adjust to life in a different fashion. Dahlia, once married to a complete cad, meets Noreen, who also knows the cad and they become best friends. The verbal abuse Dahlia suffered in the marriage worked to undermine her confidence, but hanging with Noreen introduces her to a world where she can be the dominant one. Kat's marriage suffered after she gained weight from having a baby. Her husband could not handle the extra pounds, so he left for smaller pasture. Mentally, she reasoned that if the extra weight was unattractive to her husband, it was unattractive to other men as well. All three ladies meet at Hedonism, where a friendship begins that last through dating drama and the challenges each faces in order to overcome some of the mental anguish created as the result of weight issues.

Rivera does a very decent job of charting the number of challenges, both publicly and personally, women of size face living in a world where so many myths and prejudices about full-figured women exist. I could definitely feel the struggle each woman went through dealing with romance, lust and finding true love. The tug on me was overwhelming and I must credit Rivera with great character development. Although different from his other books, his writing still manages to capture your attention and hold it until the story ends.

5.0 out of 5 stars Plus-Sized Divas need love too!, May 17, 2009

Noreen, Dahlia and Kat are three plus size beauties with the same longing...find a man who can love them for themselves...unconditionally. But this doesn't seem to be an easy feat. You see on the outside each lady exudes confidence and sexuality, but on the inside they battle with insecurities that seem to worsen after each failed relationship.

This story thrusts the plus sized divas into the spotlight and focuses on personal challenges along with their friendship and loves.

Everybody seems to have something that they don't like about themselves. But it's even worse when you try and fit into the typical stereotype which society deems is right.
Author David Rivera has gone beyond the outside appearance of three plus-sized women and stepped into their inner soul to bring buried feelings and insecurities to the surface while exploring each woman's sexuality.

Having read two of Mr. Rivera's previous books, I felt that "The Last Prejudice" is the book where he brought his erotic side out full force and seasoned it with a pinch of comedy making it twice as nice, while crafting serious subjects such as self doubt into an interesting story.
