Book Description

September 19, 2005 The Last Disciple (Book 2)
Helius, Nero's most trusted advisor, anticipates the death of his sworn enemy, the legendary warrior Gallus Sergius Vitas, scheduled to die a gruesome death in the arena. However, the badly beaten man who appears in the amphitheater is not who he seems. Rescued by a stranger and given a mysterious scroll, Vitas is told that he must decipher this letter to find the answers he needs--a letter that Helius is also determined to decipher and to keep hidden from Nero. As Nero's reign of terror grows, so does his circle of enemies.

From the Back Cover

"This calls for wisdom. If anyone has insight, let him calculate the number of the beast, for it is man's number. His number is 666." Revelation 13:18 (NIV)

Imagine . . .
Possessing a letter written in code.
It’s contents so explosive that the enemy will stop at nothing to destroy it.
Deciphering it could stop the evil reign of terror.
Or cost the ultimate sacrifice. . . .
As the Beast closes in.

One man dies. So others will live.

One man is martyred in the arena. Another is spared, sent from Rome on a ship in the dead of night, armed with a scroll holding answers that can be found only through understanding the divine Revelation, a scroll that can help him topple Nero’s reign of terror and bring him back everything he has lost. But only if he has the courage to trust.

And behind him, the Beast is on the hunt. . . .

5.0 out of 5 stars exciting thriller, September 28, 2005
This review is from: The Last Sacrifice (Hardcover)
Once Vitas was part of Nero's inner circle until at a feast he tried to choke the emperor because the ruler planned to have his way with his wife Sophia, a follower of Christos. He was supposed to be sent to the arena to die but a group of powerful Romans set in motion a plan that would have someone else take his place while he was sent to Alexandria, with John, THE LAST DISCIPLE who wrote the letter of revelation on Patmos.

The people who saved Vitas believe he has a chance of killing Nero once he gathers the puzzle pieces that they sent to various people in the empire and deciphers them. Vitas doesn't know that his Sophia mourns his death, not even receiving comfort from her belief in Christos. Damian, Vitas' brother and a slave hunter is looking for John to return him to Rome but Vitas convinces him to help him on his journey to Caesarea and Jerusalem to find out just what his saviors hope he can accomplish to rid the empire of an insane monarch.

This second book in The Last Disciple's series is an exciting thriller as Vitas tries to stay one step ahead of his enemies while trying to figure out what role he is to play in toppling Nero from the throne. The authors have done such a good job of historical research that the audience will feel like they actually witness the events that occur in the novel. Thus readers will find this book so educational and entertaining they will finish it in one sitting.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must read either for fiction enjoyment or eschatology debate, November 18, 2005

Michael Ruangnol (Los Angeles, ca United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: The Last Sacrifice (Hardcover)
I am not writing a review about the events in the story, just go and read it. First, Tim F. LaHaye probably can't handle debates about his attack on this book or series. It great that the same publishers produce both sides of the debate. I think it's great for the Christian church and if he thinks that this position( Partial Preterist view) is not biblical he shouldn't be acting the way he has. He can comment and give is disagreements but not misrepresent Hank.
Second, This book does a great job in continuing the story of the Last Disciple. The story is great and gripping. I can't wait till the next one is out. It teachs you on how the first century Christian might have had view and use the book of Revelation in the first century. Even if you disagree with it, you have to wonder how the Christian responsed to the book of Revelation. How was it relevant to them? We do it now and all Christian have done it through out history.
It's great for the debate and if your a futurist and you think you might not like it, just pick it up and read it as what might have happen in 1st century. I have watch all the left behind movies and planning to watch the new one even though I disagree with it it's still can be view as great Christian entertanment.

Good work..

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally the correct form of eschaetology, December 17, 2005
This review is from: The Last Sacrifice (Hardcover)
Before I begin my review, I would like to say a few words concerning Kevin M. Newby's negative review on this book. In his ignorance and stupidity, he go's a thousand feet off the deep end in saying that this book is not scripture-based and that it is no more than "a fiction book that you would find in Borders." My dear brothers and sisters, for your sake do not listen to him. He says to read the Bible for what it really means, when he himself does not. Anyways, this book is amazing! After reading all 13 books in the left behind series, and then when reading The Last Disciple and The Last Sacrifice I came to conclusions that The Last Disciple series is way more scripture based then the Left Behind series. Interesting fact: the Left Behind series does not have one scripture concerning end times which leaves his entire series inaccurate, inconsistant, and most of all unreliable. Not so with the Last Disciple series: Hank Hanegraaff explains it accurately and precisely so that you would understand it. Don't miss out, or you will regret it.
