Earth Crisis at their best (with a sense of humor),
This review is from: Last of the Sane (Audio CD)
Earth Crisis was always insufferably humorless. Their puritanical intolerance was a welcome antidote to the spineless value relativism of the 1990s, but they took themselves WAY too seriously, and as a result, it is hard to continue to appreciate their original material as an adult.
Slither, their only "grown-up" record, lacked the confidence necessary for growth through experimentation, and you could tell the band was about to fall apart when the promo photo showed Karl wearing a faux-leather jacket. A shame, but at least they knew when to stop. The lack of any original material (or, much, anyway) is what makes this album so fantastic. A bit of critical distance from the songs allowed them to take risks and be playful. Holiday in Cambodia, as performed here by EC, is my favorite hardcore track of all time and showcases these guys as musicians at the height of their talents. I am persistently irritated by the fact that the songs here are indexed out of order, both on the jacket and the cd data track, but its not enough of a flaw to pass on this album.

awesome cover album,

This album was awesome. Though it doesn't sport new Earth Crisis material it has some awesome covers of Slayer, Dead kennedy's, Rolling Stones, Led zeppelin, and Black Sabbath songs. I loved Holiday In Cambodia when DK did it but Earth Crisis just made the song that much more intense. The same goes for The Wanton Song, and Paint It Black. I'm a huge Earth Crisis fan and if you wanna hear them tearing away at some older songs this is it. It maybe nothing new but it sure is intense as far as the covered material goes.

This cd was just average, nothing spectacular about it. I am an earth crisis fan but this one just didnt do it for me. buy this cd if ur a fan, but not if u never heard them, buy breed the killers or the oath that keeps me free. Those are better cds
