Going everywhere and nowhere at once...,

I'll preface this with the usual, I've been a fan of Reggie since the beginning, love all the other albums...yadda yadda yadda (I even named my cat Reggie). So I was very excited when the break-up rumors were cast aside and the new album was announced.
Well now it's here and I don't know what to think. As a fan I feel a little detached from this effort. And I don't mind bands growing and changing their sound. In fact I welcome it most of the time. But with this CD there's something off. Others have mentioned how it's "mad" or "angry" sounding and it is. With all the other albums you got a sense of humor and fun with the music that just isn't present here. Instead of the occasional appearance by "Hungry Bear" the majority of the CD is spent with screaming vocals. Not only that but 2 or 3 different sounding screaming vocals (just the style he uses). On top of that there's some of the "normal" vocal thrown in on occasion as well. The sound of the whole package is harder, with just a few soft moments thrown in. And there really isn't any "dance" sound to be found (though you may be able to argue that at one point). And one big thing that I found is that the tracks seemed very "jerky" to me. Meaning they just don't seem to flow all the time. As a Reggie album I was disappointed (probably my least favorite album), as just a new album I thought it was average. I realize this is a bit of a conceptual effort, even therapeutic for him judging from the lyrics. But the music seemed to regress and it was a bit of a let down for me. Still if you enjoy Reggie, you gotta get it. I know this is a bit of a harsh review but it's worth getting, just try not to go in with any pre-conceived notion on what you think you know about Reggie and the Full Effect.

Best Album from Reggie,

I am not a fan of my chemical romance so I was worried that playing with them might influence james but this album is amazing. It is very mature for a reggie album and as usual offers a variety of musical styles. An absolute must buy! He has definitly gone in the right direction.

Incredible!,
This review is from: Last Stop: Crappy Town (Audio CD)
It seems as if James got a bit mad within this album, but he does an incredible with it! Just to warn though that this is not the same RatFE that you heard within earlier albums, it is much more like his previous album "Songs not to get Married To" only progressing further into his new genre. I will be listening to this nonstop for a very long time and so will all my friends!

It takes a little bit to get into it, but the new Reggie and the Full Effect CD is undoubtedly the best to date. Unlike on previous Reggie albums, James Dewees takes the gloves off and reaches for your throat from the beginning and never lets go. On tracks like "E" he lets you take a breath, but it's right back to business soon afterwards. This album is based on the New York subway system and symbolizes the adjustment and personal struggles Dewees went through leading up to the move. Gone are the days alter egos and side attractions common to the Reggie universe. Common Denominator is nowhere to be seen and as someone who liked the enjoyed the power and emotion found on the last Reggie disk, I am truly glad to see Reggie keep moving in a serious direction. I don't know about anyone else out there, but I don't need to hear another "Love Reality" or "Laura's Australian Dance Party." This is a raw, heavy, scream-filled, pissed off Reggie more in the neighborhood of "The Trooth" and "The F**k Stops Here." Though "Last Stop: Crappy Town" could have gone the way of the convoluted NYC subway system, all the trains are running on time here, even if its raw sound may come as a shock to new listeners and require a little bit more effort to fully appreciate.

James Dewees tried to come back after his drug problems and I don't think that he made it. It's too bad. These tunes just lack their usual simplicity and hooks from the previous albums. Sorry.

They grow up so fast...,
This review is from: Last Stop: Crappy Town (Audio CD)
Been a fan of Reggie for a long time so picking up the new cd was a no-brainer. I was incredibly surprised at what I found. Unlike the previous album, this one is completely devoid of tomfoolery. No outtake tracks, no common denominator, even the dwarves stayed home this round. In fact, this is the most serious and professional RatFE album I've ever heard.
Fortunately James and crew avoided the common pitfall most bands stumble into when they "grow up". This isn't a mainstream record, you won't find overproduced vocals and cookie cutter melodies here. Rest assured, this is still VERY much RatFE. James' vocals and lyrics are still very much James, light moog melodies still overlay distorted guitar riffs. Honestly, this is RatFE at their best. This is a full album of top notch recordings. No filler tracks and a great flow. If you even remotely like Reggie and the Full Effect you need to own this album.

I've been listening to Reggie since the first cd. This latest cd is AMAZING! Even if you never heard Reggie before, James sure got creative with this one. I love the death metal songs, which all started with Apacolypse WOW! I did miss the funny little drunk girl at the get up kids show acts, but I love how each song flows into each other. From Track 2 to Track 3 is AWESOME!
Anyway, nicely done James you did an amazing job on your last Reggie and am looking forward to hearing the new My Chemical Romance even tho I never heard a single song from them. Well, maybe on the radio, but I only listen to that stuff at work. Anwyay, Thanks for all the music and humor!

This CD has a constant eb and flow to it that sooths and sits perfect together. Unfortunately for some of you, it doesn't have the mainstream radio hits of it's predecessors. Reggie songs can all be broken down into four group and this CD will not disappoint fans of any of these genres. There definately are songs from his back catalog that are better than any one song on this CD, but as a whole... I wouldn't take anything else.

this is deffintley the best reggie and the full effect album to date this cd has more of a harcore feel to it James Dewees went in a differnt direction with the cd instead of the normal pop/techno feel the previous reggie albums have had this one is an angry cd you can really tell james took his anger out on this cd and im glad he did cause this cd is amazing but if you dont like the hardcore sound its not for you

If only there were a rating worse than 1 star...,
This review is from: Last Stop: Crappy Town (Audio CD)
I can't say I'm any expert on this band, but I run a metal radio show and I had to listen to this garbage to decide whether or not our station should use it. The band tries a style combination that I've never heard sound good. The album intermittently changes between hard metal and synth pop. Not to say that I hate either of these genres. It make doesn't make sense, pop=good, metal=great, pop metal= crap. To worsen the effect of this poor choice of style, the pop itself is the absolute worst kind; whiny-voiced emo pop. This album is Panic At the Disco meets Mastodon. What a stupid idea for a band.
