5.0 out of 5 stars Allister=All-stars!
Allister is such a great band! I heard "Somwhere on Fullerton" in the summer, but i thought they were just an average band. Boy was I WRONG! Each song has its own unique sound, Tim and John exchange vocals in songs, so u dont get so tired of one voice. Each song awesome and full of energy!

3.0 out of 5 stars Representing the genre
Nevermind the whole discussion of exactly what punk is, Allister have tightly put together a CD that works well in the happy dancy "punk" rock genre. Not annoying like Starting Line who comes over as whiney in my opinion. From what I've noticed, if you like this genre then Drive-Thru records is a perfect place to do your shopping.

I would have rated this album...

1. Scartch-This song is the best song on the cd! I love this song and the chorus is awesome! 11/10
2. Radio Player-I liked this song when i first got the cd but now im kinda tired of it. I love how Tim overlaps his voice after the chorus 8.5/10
3. Flypaper-Again chorus is great, and so is the rest of the song; catchy 9.5/10
4. Overrated-"ok" song, not my fav tho; gets "old" very easy 8.5/10
5. Better Late Than Forever-I dont really remember this song, but I remember that it was good 9/10
6. The One That Got Away- Fast, catchy, and full of energy! But it just isnt very solid 8/10
7. Racecars-Great Song! Very Catchy! my fav part is the beginning 9.5/10
8. Matchsticks-Good lyrics and fast paced 8.5/10
9. Camouflage-I LOVE THIS SONG! its so cool the chorus is so cool cuz Tim and John both exchange lines (kinda like Stockholm Syndrome by Blink-182)I love the guitar riff that sounds like a keyboard after the first chrous-10/10
10. Don't Think Twice-the beginning is good, but kind of resembles "I Won't Spend Another Night Alone" by the ataris-9/10
11. Somewhere on Fullerton-AWESOME SONG! I love it! first single off the record! this song never gets old! 10.5/10
12. Westbound-great lyrics! great tune! great vocals! 10/10
13. Know It All-kinda good; i dont care for this song too much 8.5/10
14. Stuck-I love the verses and the chorus! the whole song itself is very solid! 10/10
15. Waiting For You-I love the "woah"'s in the chorus. ano0ther very catchy song! 9.5/10
16. None of My Friends are Punks-funny song, its funny how they have to retake the song so many times! im glad they put the retakes in the cd. The tune gets annoying after a while so i'll give it 8/10.

Overall this cd is awesome. If you like allister, i would recommend, finch, ataris, starting line, blink-182, brand new, and saves the day. Its kinda sad that John had to leave the band. He was so cool! but chris is cool too!

rock on!

5.0 out of 5 stars Just Buy It!, September 9, 2003

This review is from: Last Stop Suburbia (Audio CD)
This cd is unbelieveable i am a pop punk fan and if you like any band like Millencolin, Blink, Autopilot Off, New Found Glory, Sum 41, Not By Choice, Off Bye One, The Starting Line, Good Charlotte (young and hopeless cd hated the first one) etc you will love this cd. I swear there is not one bad song on this cd. Songs such as westbound, somewhere on fullerton, racecars, overrated, flypaper, radio player are all awesome and would match any of Blink's best songs. I absolutely love this cd and i'm pretty sure you would 2. Anyhow we have to give bands like Allister support and buy their cd's so they continue to produce wicked cd's like this ripper! Any Aussies out there like me make sure ya get the cd, don't matter if ya have to import it

4.0 out of 5 stars Nothing groundbreaking, just good stuff., November 6, 2002
This review is from: Last Stop Suburbia (Audio CD)
In what way have these young musicians improved over the past few years? Vastly. Everything is more mature, vocals, songwriting (somewhat), musicianship, and attitude. Both singers sound much different in comparision to their previous full length. Anyway, if you want some fun, fast paced, upbeat punk with a sarcastic attitude, go get this CD. Just pop it in and let it spin. The songs have good variety and catchy chorus', if you are into having a good time that is. If you have gone through the trouble to look these guys up on Amazon, you will probably like this album alot.

4.0 out of 5 stars Aspires to be only pop-punk, January 9, 2006

This review is from: Last Stop Suburbia (Audio CD)
This band is a pop-punk band. They are simply that, and don't pretend to be otherwise. Good. now that thats established we can move on without people accusing me of liking crap music. Pop punk is interesting because it is scorned by so many, but when it is listened to for simply what it is and not held up to the standards of being a TRUE punk record, it can be enjoyed quite a lot.

I was thoroughly obsessed with this album for a while. Every song is a little adrenaline rush. It doesn't have any songs that are particularly stand out songs for the genre, but while this sounds bad, it also lends an automatic familiar feel that will bring a smile to your face. That being said, I do have a few favorites. The first track, Scratch, is an endearing poppy song, that definitely sets the tone for the album. I am always happy to hear the beginning of this song. Overrated is a fun song about being sick of being pushed around. The One That Got Away is an intensely short song, but it is quick and to the point, and is actually one of the sweeter songs I have ever heard. "There are more fish in the sea. But I keep hoping that you'll swim back home to me." Nothing brilliant, but very much aesthetically pleasing. Matchsticks is my favorite song by Allister. It is so catchy that people are generally singing along to it halfway through the song. So good! Somewhere Down on Fullerton is the last truly remarkable song on the album, and it is their "hit." I use that term loosely. If you know an Allister song, you definitely know that one, but it doesn't exactly get much radio play.

All in all, if you are looking for a simple pop punk album, this one is definitely worth it. It is highly addicting, and highly enjoyable. One of the better albums in the genre

5.0 out of 5 stars Very catchy, July 2, 2005
This review is from: Last Stop Suburbia (Audio CD)
Well, this is one of the very first pop-punk cd's I ever owned. (Yeah I didn't start listening to music for a long time) This entire album is extremely catchy, though one of the vocalist's gets really annoying. I don't think Allister is trying to be punk at all, cause this is exactly the opposite of punk. The only song that is close (note the word close) to being punk is Know It All.

Scratch - One of my favorite songs - 5/5
Radio Player - 4/5
Flypaper - The vocals in this song get really annoying - 3.5/5
Overrated - 5/5
Better Late Than Forever - 5/5
The One That Got Away - Vocals in this song get annoying too - 2/5
Racecars - 4.5/5
Matchsticks - 2nd favorite song - 5/5
Camouflage - Verse is annoying - 4/5
Don't Think Twice - 5/5
Somewhere on Fullerton - First song I heard. Sounds like a summer song or something - 5/5
Westbound - iff - 3/5
Know It All - Fav song - 5/5
Stuck - 5/5
None of my Friends are Punks - No point to this song - 3/5

It's a fun and catchy cd. Good for pop-punk.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent pop-punk..., February 11, 2003
By
This review is from: Last Stop Suburbia (Audio CD)
After an average, but fairly forgettable debut album (Dead Ends and Girlfriends), Allister seems to have found their own sound. And what a sound it is...

Catchy, toe-tapping pop punk songs covering the usual easycore territory of broken hearts and angst. Not many bands of this type can put out an album with start to finish great songs. Standouts are "Scratch", "Overrated", "Camouflage", and "Stuck". They stick with the rotating vocals and it works to perfection, helping to give them a distinctiveness.

With this album, Allister has proven they deserve the same reverance as fellow Drive-Thru Records heavyweights like NFG, Finch and Starting Line.

5.0 out of 5 stars The PERFECT pop punk soundtrack, October 13, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Last Stop Suburbia (Audio CD)
In 16 songs ALLISTER have created the perfect pop-punk album of the year. Somewhere (perhaps on Fullerton?) while criss-crossing the country over the last few years on their relentless touring schedule Allister have learned to write great songs, sing the ferocious hooks and play their instruments like bona fide hitmakers. The second song Radio Player has got to be the catchiest single not (yet) on radio. Other gems are "overrated" (apparently about a record company), the one that got away (about a girl -- surprise, surprise -- after all this is an Allister album), and supercatchy "flypaper". This album is superb from the first listen and keeps growing. I play it for friends and they say "WOW" how come I haven't heard of these guys this is GREAT! For better or worse, this is the next big thing. If you like Blink, NFG, Good Charlotte, YOU'LL LOVE ALLISTER. listen to the samples and judge for yourself and then pick up a copy and start singing along with the rest of us.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Energetic, Melodic Pop-Punk Album, December 19, 2010
This review is from: Last Stop Suburbia (Audio CD)
I recently got a promotional copy of Allister's brand new album entitled "Countdown To Nowhere" in the mail, and it made me nostalgic for the days of melodic pop punk, a sound which bands are rarely striving for these days.

That trip down memory lane led me to dust off my copy of "Last Stop Suburbia," which was recorded by the band in 2002. There are so many songs that have a great catchy melody, particularly "Better Late than Forever" and "The One that Got Away." This energetic blast of melody is reminiscent of a poppy version of "Dookie" or even a very refined and pop-friendly version of Lagwagon.

But that's not to dismiss Allister as a band without their own sound, and as their 2010 release "Countdown to Nowhere" proves, they have not lost their touch as far as songcraft is concerned. But this album was one of the best of its kind, at the time it was released. Allister is content to make fast-paced, melodic, and mostly positive music, and that's fine by me.
