I've written about this series several times and will repeat some of my previous comments on the show in general.

Don't be surprised if you are lukewarm to LOTSW on first viewing. This show grows on you over time. The first time I saw LOTSW I was underwhelmed... it was slow and seemed almost without a plot. But after watching a few more episodes I was hooked!

This is a better value than the previous sets as we get 2(!) series (6th and 7th) this time out for a total of 13 episodes!

Once again the "Christmas Special" episodes are *not* include. I don't understand this mentality. Even if they are *not* in continuity release them in airing order! Oh, well... At least the ones from the early series are currently available on Last of the Summer Wine: Christmas Specials 1978-1982. This prior release appears to have 1 of the 2 which *should* have appeared on this set.

I maintain my plea to Warner/BBC:

Get on with it! At the current release rate of 2 series per year we'll see the successor to Blu-ray come to market before all series are out on standard DVD! For a program with a over 30 year run, 2 per year is entirely too slow a release rate!

My all-time favorite comedy series. After becoming addicted to this series, these guys would be fun to have as neighbors. But I just don't understand the marketing people that make the decisions to release these on DVD. Why so slow in releasing them when there are buyers just waiting to purchase? I started buying the US releases but then realized that you can buy the British releases which are now available through the 1993 episodes and buy an all-region DVD player to watch them. So I did, and gave the US releases to friends which are now also addicted to the series. Delightful antics from a group that could have been the Little Rascals during their childhood. -Mitch

The long-running and endearing series The Last of the Summer Wine has been a huge

favorite in Britain for years. The initial casting was spot-on, and even with the

changes necessitated by Brian Wilde's infirmities - his replacements were good but

his Foggy Dewhurst is unsurpassed. Seemingly a show where nothing much happens,

(sort of like Seinfeld if you think about it!) these three old Brit gents are just

superb. One line after another makes you smile or chuckle as they go about their

daily village walks, calling in at the cafe, pub and just walking the Yorkshire

Moors. The scenery alone is worth watching - Yorkshire is ruggedly beautiful. Hard

as it is to choose a favorite, I am enthralled by Peter Sallis' (also narrator of

Wallace and Gromit) portrayal of Norman Clegg. Compo's passionate pursuit of Nora

Batty makes you shake your head while laughing. This series maintained a high level over 25 years and never went stale. It may take a couple of episodes to get

used to the slow pace, but believe me - you will enjoy going along for the stroll.

I have just received my eagerly awaited copy of the latest release of Last of the Summer Wine. It is, as the Brits say, "Smashing!" It is just as funny and well done as all the others. My husband kept coming in to see what I was laughing about. I just can't help myself. They are totally hilarious! I don't mind getting any older if it means that I can have that much fun. How I wish there could be a Compo, Clegg, and Foggy in my town. What a hoot that would be! I have bought all the DVD's that have been released in my area, and up till now, the 1995 one was my favorite. I think that is going to change as this new one is soo good and has 7 episodes on the 1st disc and 6 on the second. No Special features, unfortunately, but I think we can forgive that, in light of getting so many episodes this time. Brit-Com lovers----prepare to laugh yourself silly--again!

I bought this gift for my dad and he watchs this again and again. He loves how the old men are always up to something and he constantly laughs at their crazy stunts. WHat a great show!

My family and I loved every episode of this delightful series. These 3 aged but yet juvenile characters along with the rest of the cast make us laugh every time we watch this DVD.

My husband and I used to watch this BBC series on our local public TV station but sadly they stopped broadcasting it. I was thrilled to be able to purchase it and now can watch whenever I want. The characters are "mahvelous" and I love British humor (it's most likely an acquired taste though). If you need a break from your own hectic life, sit down and enjoy a few hours of gaffaws and chuckles with Clegg and the guys. and drift away to good old England.

This was a great DVD and very funny. The problem was the FedEx SmartPost that Amazon used for delivery. It would have been cheaper and faster to use regular mail. The parcel sat just a few hours away in a warehouse with no movement or update for three or four days and then in my own town for delivery for two days. I am reluctant to order from Amazon again because delivery takes too long. When I order from BBC it only takes two or three days to get my DVD. I am not sure it is worth saving $2.00 per DVD to order from Amazon.

We are charmed by Last of the Summer Wine. It was a simple, humorous show that we watch and re-watch, that causes us to laugh and laugh again. Our family spans years from 15 to 71 and we all enjoy these wonderful episodes of English life.

This is classic BBC comedy that my wife & I enjoy so very much. You can't go wrong with this entertainment.
