thoughtful, melodic...,

heard the 'autumn leaves' track on pandora and bought their album based on it... nq arbuckle has its own, distinctive sound, but if you like Will Oldham, Magnolia ELectric, esp Richard Buckner, you'll like the quiet, thoughtful songs by this band. i love how the melodies wind and unwind, spin into something different, change genres, interpolate outside sounds... very complex, musical, but at the same time real country. the lyrics are beautiful--'we walked in rhymes'... they pull off perfectly a line like 'i come from a cheap town, i eat hotdogs...'
nq's voice growls and roars and purrs. not a lot of range, but supremely expressive.

A true Pandora find,

I first heard this on Pandora (I think I was listening to the Slim Cessna channel at the time), and thought I'd take a gamble on picking up the CD. Very glad I did. The CD has been in my carousel now for weeks, and I don't think it's leaving anytime soon. I suppose you could call it Alt-Country or whatever, but I think I've filed it under drinking music for all occasions. A near perfect mix of heavy lyrics with a touch of humor and driving beats with more than a few minor keys thrown in to keep you grounded. Buy it!
