Possibly better than AntiChrist Superstar,
By NosferatV (Texas) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Last Tour on Earth (Audio CD)
I must say that when I first put this CD in the CD player and listened to it I was blown away, the talent of Manson and his band members is astounding. And I cannot BELIEVE that some people are ignorant enough to say Manson is a weak songwriter! As I have heard some say before, If Bob Dylan were to put some of these lines from Manson's songs in his songs he would be considered the reincarnation of Jesus Christ. I really enjoyed this album and I could just see Manson on stage performing with the band and the back-up singers. This album is his best since AntiChrist Superstar. It may even be better. Now to some of you who have left negative comments about this CD, (If you just complained only about the music, then this does not apply to you, it only applies to those who are judging Manson for who he is.) most of you most likely never even HEARD any of the songs on this cd and I think you're nothing but narrow minded a**holes. Another thing, you talk about your Christian values and everything and talk about how much a horrible pest Manson is, but what about in the bible where it says "Judge lest ye be judged." According to the bible you have NO right whatsoever to judge Manson, his opinions, his actions, or his beliefs. Unless you want to be judged in the same way by God... I respect Manson for fighting back against the hypocrites and narrow-minded people of this country and I can't wait until his next album.

Head candy,

This is the most exciting live hard rock recording since the Ozzy/ Randy Rhodes Tribute album. Manson is a preternaturally brilliant entertainer, and his transcendingly engrossing and absorbing stage show is captured wonderfully here. Made my speakers bleed.

Explosive . . . what an album,

This is good stuff. I love Manson, and this album is great, the sound quality is very good. From the opening, the eerie "Inaugration of the Mechanical Christ", which launches into a screaming rendition of "The Reflecting God", this album is excellent. Some songs, like "Rock is Dead" and especially "Antichrist Superstar" sound better live in my opinion. "Lunchbox" and "I Don't like the Drugs" are cool because Manson talks to the crowd - it's all good. There's a couple of really cool moments, from the audience clapping in the beginning of "Sweet Dreams" to Irresponsible Hate Anthem's classic "and all the children sing . . . we hate love, we love hate". This is must-have if you're a Manson fan, and although I think the sound quality could've been just a bit better, it's still quite good. Plus you get the great "Astonishing Panorama of the End Times". My only complaint is it doesn't have "Mechanical Animals" which was my favorite song off the album.

A very decent showing, but something missing....,

This album is worth picking up, but really doesn't showcase all of Manson's best work. I realize that not all live cds are greatest hits cds but he could've had some different songs on here. The sound quality isn't superb, but it's way better than any bootleg I own and isn't bad either. The best tracks on here are definitely Great Big White World, The Beautiful People, and The Last Day On Earth (acoustic version). The studio track in the end is also great, it was an outtake from the Antichrist Superstar sessions. I think it would have fit in right around the beginning of the album (not important, just thought I'd share that). I really like the studio version to The Reflecting God better because the chorus part is different. I really enjoy the speech in the beginning of I Don't Like The Drugs, it really reminds me of a live Doors recording my mother has lying around. For all of you people who come on here and talk about how he's the devil, ... you haven't even heard the album so you have no business coming in here and giving it bad reviews. You're techincally committing a sin anyway because you agreed that you've heard the cd and you haven't. Back to the album, if you're a Manson fan pick it up, for those casual fans, maybe later down the line, and for non-fans, stay in your commericalized TRL world and look at your Britney Spears posters.

Very nicely done.,
This review is from: Last Tour on Earth (Audio CD)
Now, I am a pretty big Manson fan, and have been since sometime in '95 or so, and I must say that I really enjoyed this album. I have to disagree with the general consensus that the Beautiful People is better here than on Antichrist; I personally prefer the studio version due to it's itensely pounding synthetic beats. I like drums, don't get me wrong, and if I didn't ahve a pre-existing version of TBP in my head I may hav felt differently. As for the rest of it, it is very good, and manson's antics are highly entertaining. I absolutely love End Times, but can see why it was cut from Antichrist. It is superior to many of the songs on that album, but serves the same purpose as The Reflecting God in terms of storyline, which is a masterpiece. Astonishing panorama... however, is a marvellous bridge between Antichrist and Mechanical Animals. All in all, a highly enjoyable purchase, worth every penny and worth listening to again and again.

as much as i like manson, and as much as i loved seeing him live when i got the chance, his live shows are an experience. this does not nearly convey what it is like at a manson concert. the last track is the only thing this album is worth. the rest is good, but the album versions are undoubtedly better. buy it if you're a manson fan, like me, or if you were at any of the Midwest concerts this stuff was recorded from. it's a piece of manson history.

Good Stuff,
By Ben (New York) - See all my reviews

This CD is actually better than I thought. A lot of live recordings are all distorted and it is difficult to hear the music. But this was recorded very well. A few songs like The Beautiful People and Anti-christ Superstar are a little distorted from their album recordings, but that is expected on a live album. But songs like Sweet Dreams and Last Day on Earth are actually recorded quite nicely. This album could almost be considered a compilation of greatest hits. It has all the classic songs as well as a couple not on any of Manson's albums.

Manson rocks live,
This review is from: Last Tour on Earth (Audio CD)
The song list for this album is great, however missing a few good songs. The highlight of the album is the intro to "I Don't Like The Drugs", where Manson speaks to the crowd of a dream he had about drugs. He sounds to much like Jim Morrison it's scary."Rock Is Dead" and "Antichrist Superstar" are my two favorite songs here, and in my opinion, they sound better live. Of course there's a non-live studio recording of "Astonishing Panorama Of The Endtimes", a great song with good lyrics. If you're worried about sound quality, don't. It all sounds great, near studio quality. I think Manson songs sound better recorded than live, but this album is great. My only qualm is that it doesn't have two of my favorites, "New Model No. 15" and "Rock 'N' Roll Nigger", but I can't really complain. Chances are a couple of everyone's favorites aren't here. I highly recommend this album to Manson fans, but if you're a new fan of Manson, buy his studio albums first.

An amazing live cd,
By John "Ira" (New Jersey) - See all my reviews

As soon as you hear the intro to this live album "inaguration of the mechanical christ" You feel like you are at the concert. There really isn't much to say in a review about this, listening to this cd is an experience that can't be explained unless you listen to it for yourself. It includes favorites such as get your gunn, rock is dead, lunchbox, sweet dream/hell outro, the dope show, antichrist superstart, the beautiful people, the reflecting god & great big white world. I hope they come out with a new live cd that would add songs from cds that hadn't been released as the date of this cd, brilliant like the man who wrote these songsP.S. MArilyn manson talks about his "dream" in the beggining of " i dont like the drugs ( but the drugs like me)" pretty funny. " I don't say to be like me. I say to be like you and to make a difference." - Marilyn manson

Best Live Act of the century/Millenium,

Ahoy hoy Marilyn Manson has the best live set I have ever seen, and they capture it very well on this CD. They give those who didn't go a chance to imagine what it must have been like, looking at the photos inside and listening to the heavyness of the album. A GREAT live album, with the added new song Astonishing Panorama..., which also a great new song. John 5 rocks, I hope they continue to put out great stuff.
