there is nothing that can hold alabama 3 back at this point. after power in the blood, anything they do promises to be a creative endeavor in the highest class. in last train to mashville, alabama 3 plays all of their favorite songs (i can only assume) in acoustic, with one new song: disneyland is burning. this song infuses A3's usual lyricism with some good old anarchism left over from exile on coldharbour lane. this album appears to be the pet project of rock freebase, the guitarist of the group. his guitar work in these songs is solid but not outstanding, and many of the songs don't need the guitar at all. the lyrics pull them through.

woke up this morning- what would a collection of redone alabama 3 songs be without the song that brought them to where they are? it's okay, probably better than the soprano mix, definitely worse than the album mix

too sick to pray- beginning not much different, same acoustic guitar, but they cut out all that crap from the beginning. somewhat slower than la peste version

year zero- fantastic guitar, same dull lyrics. it's faster.

mansion on the hill- a personal favorite from la peste, it was slowed down considerably. you can hear the words much better.

speed of the sound of loneliness- much more faithful to the original john prine version, taken out much of the gratuitous swearing.

u don't danse to tekno anymore- they cleaned up the title! what happened to dans and 2? oh well... starts very slow, but becomes much livelier.

bulletproof- sung by larry love this time! slower and less swearing, they also changed the tune a little and it's second-person instead of first.

let the caged bird sing- great guitar. the song really didn't change much, though.

disneyland is burning- enough said. good piano beginning

woody guthrie- almost indescernible (word?) from the power version.

peace in the valley- very sentimental. it is great though, they use some good drums instead of that electronic stuff.
