This is a marvellous book; a combination of first-rate scholarship and good writing that makes it difficult to put down. It's a book that merits at least a second or third reading to absorb the insights offered. The authors offer readers valuable perspective and a clear vision of Jesus' mission on earth that both enhances and informs our faith. This was a particularly useful choice for Lent, motivating readers to put their faith in action by working to be Jesus' hands and feet on earth. It would be an excellent book for a study group.

Marcus Borg and John Dominic Crossan have created a finely crafted account of the religious and political undercurrents that created the context of the last days of Jesus of Nazareth during the last week of his earthly life. Their text is illuminating in that it expands and enriches our understanding of the significance of those events, rather than simply restating what we already know.

For two thousand years people claiming to follow Jesus have been rationalizing the domination system (as long as they're in the dominant part of it). It will be no different today, and one way to protect the status quo is to put down books like this one.

Our Sunday School class have used this book as our text for a number of weeks of lessons. We are moving slowly so His last week might take our class 3 months. But, it is very informative and we are all learning from the book.
