This review is from: The Last Wizard (Mass Market Paperback)
"Wizards were outlawed, hunted down, hanged, or burned... Those who found isolated strongholds and refuges outlived several generations of their enemies, but the eventually grew old and died...
Each year the dragonwarriors of Harbin sail south to kill a dragon, returning with plunder and tales of glory. Tamesan, daughter of the Dragon Head, will never sail to the land of the dragons. Instead, she must follow the ways of the other village women. But Tam would rather spend her days roaming Dragon Mountain, staring out to sea, to the south... Then she meets the mysterious Herbal Man, and begins to study his healing arts. As Tam fights to decide her own life, she discovers the secret lurking in the heart of Dragon Mountain, the truth about dragons - and the terrible secret at the heart of Harbin..." This is a great stand-alone book, which reads to me like a young adult book. I found it enjoyable, though I wouldn't have minded a second book to tell of Jaysin's story. |
