Book Description

September 4, 2012 Haunted Yarn Shop Mysteries
Kath Rutledge is about to learn the true meaning of TGIF—Thank Goodness It’s Fiber.…

That’s the name of the spunky group of fiber and needlework artists founded by Ivy McClellan, Kath’s beloved grandmother. Though Ivy has recently passed on, the members still meet regularly at her fiber and fabric shop, The Weaver’s Cat, which Kath has now inherited. But that’s only the first in a series of surprises when Kath returns to the small town of Blue Plum, Tennessee, to settle her grandmother’s affairs.

There’s been a murder, and it turns out her grandmother was the prime suspect. Before she can begin to clear Ivy’s name, Kath encounters a looming presence in the form of a gloomy ghost. It turns out the specter has just as much interest in solving the murder as Kath. So, with a little help from the members of TGIF—and a stubborn spirit from beyond—she sets out to unravel the clues and hook the real killer.…

More About the Author

Molly MacRae spent twenty years in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains of Upper East Tennessee, where she managed the Book Place, an independent bookstore; may it rest in peace. Before the lure of books hooked her, she was curator of the history museum in Jonesborough, Tennessee's oldest town. Her short stories have appeared in Alfred Hitchcock's Mystery Magazine for more than twenty years, and she won the Sherwood Anderson Award for Short Fiction. MacRae lives with her family in Champaign, Illinois, where she connects children with books at the public library.

New in September 2012 - Last Wool and Testament, first in a light paranormal, mystery series from Penguin starring Kath Rutledge, a textile preservationist, who inherits her grandmother's wool shop in Blue Plum, Tennessee, and also ends up with a depressed ghost on her hands. Think of it as the series that puts the woo-woo in the wool. Second in the series, Dyeing Wishes, comes out July 2, 2013.

5.0 out of 5 stars A spellbinding page turner! September 6, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I just finished reading Last Wool and Testament cover to cover. Or should I say, iPad page to iPad page. There is definitely something for everyone here, including mystery, history, a little romantic tension, and a touch of the paranormal. Molly does a terrific job of being true to the East TN area in a very loving way all while spinning a tale that I couldn't put down. If you are involved in the textile arts in any way, you will appreciate the way she frames her story. If you aren't, you will learn that there is more to it than you ever dreamed. I can't wait for the next book in the series!

4.0 out of 5 stars Rather sweet October 4, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I do not make it a point to ready paranormal books of any kind, but I was enticed into reading just a few pages of "Last Wool and Testament" and I liked the writing and the main character enough to give it a shot. The story moves along well and I'd certainly recommend this book to readers who enjoy cozy mysteries. The paranormal part of the story is not invasive or spooky. The ghost is a rather petulant lady who isn't violent or threatening. She's just sort of a pain in the butt. :)

4.0 out of 5 stars A Good Read, fun and entertaining October 6, 2012
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I enjoyed learning about Kath Rutledge and Blue Plum, TN and it's many characters. Kath comes to Blue Plum to handle her grandmother's estate and learns her grandmother considered herself a witch. There's just a touch of paranormal in the story, but it plays a major part in how Kath views her grandmother and herself. While this isn't exactly what I consider a cozy mystery, it was a good read and I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.
