Last Word In...crooning is back!!!!,

In the past few years there has been a lot of generic "swing" music and "swing" type bands but very few have the power to stick around or keep up any interest levels. This is not the case with Johnny Boyds new release Last Word In. Former front man of Indigo Swing goes solo and and delivers a album that is sure to impress. Though Indigo Swing is one of my favorite swing bands, Johnny's new release is not a predictable as some of the Indigo releases. Last Word In takes you from swing, to country to rockabilly all on one cd. It also seems more personal and heart felt then you might expect. The vocal and musical arrangements are fantastic and I find myself listening to the songs not thinking, "which songs are dancable" but more like "I wonder what influenced these lyrics?" Whether your into country, swing or rockabilly this is a must have!

So it's not Indigo Swing,

As a fan of the late 90's swing craze, much of my library of cds were thrown out when I heard "All Aboard". That is a great album wich leaves all the wannabe bands in the dust. Is Johnnys solo the same? No, but maybe that is the reason that he went solo, to do something new. Last word in may not be that easy to dance to and it may be a bit more rockabilly for some peoples taste, but I would still give it an A+. After 3-4 years since it has been out, I still have this album on heavy rotation in my cd player. Its a great lazy Sunday afternoon album.

Johnny Boyd keeps getting better and better. The tracks are articulate and performed better than, dare I say, Sinatra. Rarely do you find the performer's personality in EVERY song but Jonny is a rarity among entertainers. This is a feel-good album from one of the country's great showmen. We are lucky that Boyd has hit in the age of CDs because vinyl couldn't take the constant playbacks. This is a truly unique star and maybe his best album.
