I am very pleased with my purchase of Memory Mixer so far. It probably is the easiest program that I have EVER used. Hello.. Let me start off by saying I have been digitally scrapbooking for about 3 years. The only program I have every used before Memory Mixer 3 was Scrapbook Factory so I am going to write my review by comparing the two. I really loved Scrapbook Factory, it is so easy to use. You basically just click and drag everything. Want to rotate a picture, just click on it and drag it to the angel you want. Super easy but man dose it have a lot of bugs. If you want to copy and past something, forget it, it takes forever and if you want to move an object around on the page you have to use the arrow keys because if you try to drag it, it freezes or takes an eternity. When I got my new laptop with Windows 7, it seemed like the problems doubled. I just couldn't stand the slowness and freezing anymore so a friend suggested I try Memory Mixer.

Pro's
-It's very fast. I can drag things across the page and they move immediatly. Also, copy and past are very fast. No freezing. Much better than SF.
-It has better pre-designed pages. I don't really use them, but some of them are pretty cute. Also, the paper and emblishments it comes with look a lot better.
-I love the color match tool. If you put a mat on a picture and you want it to match something else on your page all you have to do is click on the color match tool and drag it to the color you want to match, click on it and your done. You could do this is SF but it was more complicated.
-One of the main reasons I decided to try this is because you can put video, voice overs, and music on your scrapbook page. I though that would be fun and while a really like the voice over and music feature the video is pretty lame. It's tiney, maybe 3 inches by 3 inches and I can't find a way to make it fit the page.
-And last, it's really easy to save as a jpeg or burn to a dvd. You couldn't do this in SF, the only thing I could save them as were pdf files.

Con's
-Once you group items you can't change there size without ungrouping them and changing them all seperatly. This is one of the biggest problems. It drives me CRAZY. I hate it when I get a page almost done and I just need to tweek the size of a few grouped items to make them fit better and I have to do it all seperatly. It's a pain!!!
-You can't rotate a picture by clicking and dragging it, you have to do it on a slider bar off to the left. This isn't a big deal but I just liked the way you could do it in SF better.
-The last thing I really dislike is you can't move items off the page and set them off to the side until you are ready to use them. I hope that makes sense. A square page only takes up so much space on the screen you have a lot left over to the side. I liked usuing this as my work space. I could put pictures or embelishments or other things I wanted to use on my page there until I was ready to use them. Then I would just drag them into place. But if you try to do that in MM3 it won't allow you to. It tells you, you have to put it back on the page or delete it. Really stupid. Why would they do that.

Overall, I like it. It has some great features and you can put a nice page together pretty easily with none of the bugs that were so frustrating in SF. But there a still a ton of little things they could do to make it MUCH better. I wish I could combine the two, then you would have the perfect scrapbooking program. Hope this helps.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy, creative, fun, February 16, 2010

I am very pleased with my purchase of Memory Mixer so far. It probably is the easiest program that I have EVER used. I have Photoshop Elements and could have used it to create scrapbook pages, but I wanted something quick as a "click" or two and Memory Mixer does this. From adding pictures, text, drop shadows, sizing, adding embleshments and more it has met my expectations and then some. I have only made one book so far, but have had so much fun with it. My kids have joined in and added their voices for narration for the DVD output, which I think will be priceless someday. I am leading a yearbook class at our home school coop and have decided to use Memory Mixer as it will simplify everything from start to finish and will be so easy for my 10 to 12 year old students to master. It is compatible with Photoshop and even further effects can be accomplished when paired together, which I think is great. I am not comfortable with buying products over the internet, so I did alot of research and found that many scrapbooking sites do recommend Memory Mixer. Although it is somewhat pricey, everything else has fit my criteria; very easy to use, quick final product, beautiful not "cheesy" "papers" and "embellishments", can add products from internet. Bonus benefits were the voice narration, "hot spots", music from my selections, and huge variety of output such as ordering a printed book, print at home, cd, dvd, web, etc. I love Photoshop Elements for editing photos, but Memory Mixer is ideal for easy and creative digital scrapbooking.

2.0 out of 5 stars Does not play nice on Mac, January 8, 2010

This item should not be sold as being Mac compatible. in the first two hours if use I was sorry I selected this program. The program does not natively import photos from the iPhoto library as other programs do. If I had known this I would of bought iscrapbook which I probably will anyway and just write off the $50 I paid. Also the program has problems printing calendars. If you try to print all 12 months at once it will hang up. If you print just a couple of months you may or may not get all of them. This was bought for my wife because I thought it was a simple program that interfaced with the Mac. All the high ratings must be from PC users. Mac users be wary.!!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Memory Mixer 3 - Good Digital Scrapbooking Program, April 21, 2010

This is a very easy to use program that allows you to create digital scrapbook pages quickly and easily. I have used several other programs to create digital photo pages, including Creative Memories Software and Print Shop and I really like this one. You can import anything into Memory Mixer by simply saving it as a .jpg.

The only quirk I have found occurs when you try to pull too many photographs onto a page at one time to work with them. The program seems to get confused and may keep trying to pull the same photo instead of different ones. Double clicking on the selected photo usually solves the problem, if not, saving the project and reopening it is the only solution that I have found. This is a bit annoying, but the program overall is so easy to use that I can overlook it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not as impressed, March 31, 2010

While I am somewhat new to the digital scrapbooking scene. I was not as impressed with this program as I was hoping. The selection is slim, in my opinion, even though you can purchase more sets online. There are many different options, but that in turn also makes it harder to learn the program. I'm sure as I get use to it I will probably like it more, however I was disappointed that for $50 there were not more selections of backgrounds and embellishments.

This review is from: MemoryMixer Version 3 (DVD-ROM)
This is an unbelievable product. I have not done much scrapbooking due to the fact that their needs to be so many paper materials. This product is awesome because it's all digital... and easy to use! Not to mention that its easy to download new embellishments and create beautiful pieces of art!!!! Highly recommended! Very user friendly

This is my second scrapbook software and found this one very, very easy to install, learn and use. During the 2 months that I've had it, I've made an alphabet book for my 3 year old grandson, DVD, and a quickie 16 page photo album for a family member. The only criticism I have is that the DVD production (in portrait format) does not fit well on HDTV.

5.0 out of 5 stars RATED #1 on BING'S TopTenREVIEWS, October 31, 2009

I've been looking around for digital scrapbooking software for about two months since I'm going to use it professionally. I wanted something that was versatile, quick and easy, plus had lots and lots of goodies (fonts, embellishments, 3D effects, quotes/sayings, backgrounds of a wild variety of colors/textures) to make albums with, AND had easy to use import/export features. This software came in as number 1 on bing's TopTenREVIEWS and I do think this shall be the one I buy today - mainly because of the reviews but also because so many digital scrapbooking clubs online use this software for quick & often free templates, kits, newsletters, help centers, etc (like scrapwow. com).

I own Photoshop and PS Elements but they're rather cumbersome if you just want to do straight forward, yet topic rich, albums and you want to add other media in, plus be able to deliver it in a multitude of ways - like an iPod movie, for example. The cost is relatively inexpensive, too, for all that you get!

I was a little worried about purchasing this, since it mentioned in was Mac compatible in only one place and Windows compatible everywhere else. I ordered it yesterday and received it today, this one is both PC and Mac compatible. So far, it's great and hopefully I will get the Christmas gifts completed!
