I love Fern Michaels' books but I must say this "Godmother Series" has been disappointing compared to the Sisterhood Series. This one pretty much focuses on the growth of each Godmother since Toots has rescued them from their awful lives. Toots is funny as are the others in their exchange with each other but the overall plot isn't very good. They leave L.A. for Charleston in their new adventure. As I said there really wasn't much to this book but I'm hoping that in the next one Ms. Michaels will make the exploits of these women more entertaining..

I will buy the next one in the hopes that it will be better, it's how I felt about the last one too only to be disappointed again but I will keep buying her books because she is a good writer and her books are usually entertaining, honest, emotional and yes funny.

I loved the "Sisterhood" series (even though I'm a guy who is usually disgusted by chick books). Maybe my expectations for the "Godmothers" were too high, but the first one opened strong (Toots at funeral of hubby #8)but they went downhill from there. This last in the series was plain pointless and lame - even devoid of humor. Sorry, Fern.

Enjoyed the first two of this series, the third was just OK, but this most recent one is a disaster. Between the constant smoking and bird flipping you could hardly find a story. Very disappointing,to say the least, Fern.

In Malibu wealthy eight times widow Toot and her three Godmother BFFs hold a séance in which thirteen spirits including Sophie's late husband abusive drunk Walter and Ida's spouse Thomas arrive. Sophie tells Walter to rot in hell while Ida faints. Later on a mirror is "I was Poisoned". They believe Thomas is telling Ida that someone murdered him. Mavis conceals her new business "Good Mourning Clothes" after being the only person to attend the funeral of a stranger.

In Savannah, Toots' friend Bernice welcomes them home. She informs them of the Sweetest Things Bakery failing due to a rumor of a ghost and a customer died on the line. Sophie and Toots wonder what Mavis is hiding as she has packages to drop off at UPS. Toots goes to the bakery and meets the owner Janie; Toots buys a half interest. Mavis explains her new business, but needs a supplier as she has too many customers and no material. Toots calls her banker who says the supplier refuses to sell. The Godmothers break into the warehouse and steal the material as Toots leaves behind $10,000. At the next séance, they reach Thomas who writes "my daughter". Ida says he had no daughter. Toots fears if he has one and she killed him, she may come after Ida next.

The third Godmothers thriller (see Exclusive and Scoop) continues the adventures of the four best female friends who each possess different personalities. Although the issues are resolved too easily and a key coincidence in Chicago helps resolve one subplot, Fern Michaels's fans will enjoy the terrific camaraderie of the Godmothers, an elderly version of the Sisterhood.

Godmother's is one of my favorite collections. I have fallen in love with all the characters and their pets. These are the feistiest "ladies of a certain age" that I've ever read about and I've enjoyed this series as much as anything I've ever read. The trouble they can get into is a laugh a minute. I certainly plan on reading the complete series. I wouldn't want to miss a minute of what these ladies are up to. I strongly recommend these books for a humorous read. This one has it's own series of mishaps and also sisterly love that these 4 woman have for each other as well as their goddaughter Abbey, whom they are keeping a big secret from. Start with book one and enjoy these books as much as I have.

One of the Godmother series...Fern Michaels is extremely talented and best of all, her books can each stand alone...do not leave you hanging on the story line focused on the character(s). Fern Michael's series (I have read all of Sisterhood and Godmother ones) are excellent. She protrays her characters in a very human, lifelike manner..and each book has characters from her other series but tells the story of characters you met previously. She does not resort to unreal pornographic sex scenes which are descriptive to the nth degree to bring her stories to life.

I am so disgusted with this series. I'm on "Deadline" now and I have the next one which I will read, just because I will. This is the simplest bunch of writing that I've ever come across. Not funny and not realistic at all...no one talks to each other like that over nothing! This is so bad that I'm afraid to start reading the Sisterhood series, because there are so many and I tend to finish no matter what. If you want to read an AWESOME series by Fern Michaels read Texas/Vegas/Kentucky series. Such good books

Once again, Fern Michaels has proved to me that she can keep me entertained! (Not that she has to prove anything to me, really!) Love her using women of a "certain age", in this series! She is informative and open minded in her works, enlightening those of us who enjoy accumulating tidbits of information while reading (or listening) to her stories! My mother has macular degeneration, and has trouble reading, or just plain seeing, but, she can enjoy the CDs of her stories, while doing her daily chores.
