About the Author
Language has been a passion since childhood; at 10 I collected interesting foreign words in a "word journal" and wrote silly essays about wearing braces. I studied English and Linguistics in graduate school and after receiving my Ph.D, spent 25 years on the Faculties of Long Beach College and UCLA teaching ESL and Linguistics respectively. In retirement I had the good fortune to participate in inspiring poetry workshops and now I dare to call myself a poet. The poems in "Late Orchid,"with subjects as diverse as family relations and world events, were written over the last several years.
