This book is loved by my 17 month old. I'm not sure if she loves the bold colorful pictures or the rhyming text, but she does love this book. I read this book at least 10 times a day (I don't really read it anymore, I know it by heart). I can't say enough good things about this book so I guess it's "Time to scoot, warty newt."

My 23 month old nanny charge is OBSESSED with this book... OBSESSED. Again, again, again, again, again... I have to cut him off!! He also NEVER forgets to point out the little 'pink di'saur' on every page. :) And just today (after countless readings) I picked up on the little dinosaur subplot- the pink dinosaur is left at school by Ali the Alligator the day before the story begins and her teacher puts it in her cubby for her to take home the next day... though the dinosaur is then played with all day long and almost forgotten again, if you look closely at the last page you see it safe in Ali's hand as she's driving home! :) All this just from pictures... GREAT! So clever!!

The little guy has even memorized which reptile is which at this point (including which is the frog and which is the toad), and when I read the little 'dialogue' questions handwritten on the illustrations, I wait for him to say the answer and he LOVES it... I'll say "Can I sit here?" and he'll say "Okeydokey artichokey!" and crack up laughing. :) I love it. He is a big reader, but picky about which books he reads over and over and over, and this one apparently has it all! Fun, rhyming words... bright, busy pictures... fun little things to find on every page, and just the right amount of silliness! Highly recommended for toddlers and preschoolers!

This is a gift for my grandson. He is increasing his vocabulary at a rapid rate and I think he will want this book read to him again and again.
