Hello! I work at a junior high school as an ESL (English as a Second Language) teacher. Since the majority of my students are from South and Central America, I wanted something that could provide heroes from their respective countries. I must say that Mr. Adams has done an excellent job with this book. It covers 22 of the more influential Latin American heroes in the history of the Americas in a very comprehensive and easy to read manner. I found the stories very interesting and informative, and since the book is on the smaller side and paperback, it fits in any bag and provides a great read whenever you have the urge. I highly recommend it !

I really enjoyed reading the profiles in this book. You can tell that Mr. Adams is extremely well-read on the history, cultural, and society of Latin America, and understand many different perspectives on these people. Like any historical icons, these figures are extremely controversial in their home countries, and around the world. Mr. Adams addresses these controversies, but also adds a healthy dose of realism and tact so that the reader can evaluate their lives with a thorough understanding of known facts and opinions, and the differences between the two.

I also thoroughly enjoyed his style of writing. You can tell he would be the person at a party who would captivate his audience telling interesting stories. He is witty and really brought these somewhat dry stories to life. Even if you don't read all the profiles in the book, it's a great book to have on hand as a reference point for Latin American history and politics.
