Too little for too much!, June 27, 2004
This review is from: Latin Grammy Nominees 2003: Latin Pop and Tropical (Audio CD)
Ten tracks is not enough at this price. It's a rippoff! I love Latin music, being Argentinian and of Italian descent, I appreciate all types of Latin music. But this CD, although all the songs in it are excellent, is not enough at almost $18! Also, "Frijolero" by Molovov is edited due to explicit lyrics (actually, butchered is more likely!). They left out artists like Ricky Martin, Tribalistas, Ruben Blades, Natalia LaFourcade, Ednita Nazario, Thalia, Ana Torroja, Ricardo Arjona, Enrique Iglesias, Tiziano Ferro, Serrat & Shakira. Ricky Martin's album was excellent, so was Tiziano Ferro's (the hottest thing from Italy since pasta!) -- neither was represented. What a pity, this could have been a great compilation had all these artists been represented.
And by the way, Latin music is here to stay! Almost 15% of the U.S. is of Latin descent, and here in California it's over 50%. Latin music is hot, from Argentina to the United States. And by the way I also love Rock, Pop, Hip Hop, Rap, R&B, Soul, Country, Classical, Dance, Electronica, etc. That said, love and peace to all.

BEST of 2003, November 21, 2003

The latin trend may be coming to an end.
However, should you enjoy latin influenced pop then this is the perfect CD for you. It will enable you to become familiar with the current crop of latin artists beyond the usual catalogues of RICKY, MARC ANTHONY and ENRIQUE.
