4.0 out of 5 stars Title somewhat misleading, but the music is still great
The title of this collection is somewhat misleading, as only a few of the songs here have anything to do with Latin culture (perhaps they all were very popular in Latin-American neighborhoods). But overall, it's still a good set. R&B rarities like "Sad Girl," "Oh Honey," Redbone's "Come and Get Your Love," and Frankie Karl and the Dreams'...

3.0 out of 5 stars "Love the Way" by Jorge Santana
The only reason I bought this CD is because I absolutely love the song "Love the Way" by Jorge Santana. This compilation CD was the only CD that has that song. The rest of the CD was just OK, but it was worth buying just for that song.

R&B rarities like "Sad Girl," "Oh Honey," Redbone's "Come and Get Your Love," and Frankie Karl and the Dreams' "Don't Be Afraid-Do As I Say" are not easy to find anywhere else, so this is certainly worth having.

4.0 out of 5 stars THE MUSIC THAT SPEAKS THE CHICANO LIFE STYLE!!!, May 13, 2005
This review is from: Latin Oldies 3 (Audio CD)
For those of you who don't know, this is another firme album by the famous (Latin Oldies) collection volume 3 of what is to be the most popular oldies music collection of the chicanos. It was said that this title was misleading. Not at all!!! See if you are not chicano then you wouldent understand the meaning of some of these songs and how the chicanos lived by them. When it came to oldies the chicanos were probably the most to be known to listen to this kind of musica. It is like the chicanos lived by these songs in this collection when they had partys, making love, working, cruisin I mean this goes way back when there were pachucos even they always would bump this kinda musica I guess you can say they just kind of picked it up and liked it ever since. So to say this title is misleading it's really not because this is what the chicano life style was all about. These songs on this cd and the other volumes speak it perficly they all are a hit to us chicanos will always remember. Maybe just songs we listened to kickin it back at the casa or having a hard days of work just making love with your mami/papi it's all about these oldies back then and still is now. This cd has so many chingon hits I will never forget like (Cinco De Mayo) by (War) or (Please Please Please) by (James Brown) or firme ones like (Come And Get Your Love) by (RedBone) and don't forget (Rene Rene) with there song (Crei) they even have (Se Fve Mi)(Chachita) by (El Chicano). These are all songs that bring back memories for me and to think they are still here on this collection. Sure you can go and buy some of these really popular hits on here but why bother when you can get them all on this collection. Some of these songs are even spanish now if you don't tell me thats chicano then I don't know what is!!! Not just to speak it!!! some of these artist are chicano. So that might explain a lil more about why these songs are meaningful because it wasent just about the brothers it was about the chicano artist to. Just check this out eh!!! just listin and remember all those old times and for those of you who don't know and are new take a listen to. Cause you will get to feel what the heart of East L.A. is like and all the chicano life style!!!
