Really nice!,

I bought this CD for my son (he is from Guatemala) in an effort to keep him exposed to Latin music. I like this CD very much. The performers have nice voices and the music is professional sounding (I have bought other latin CD's that sounded like they were recorded in someone's garage).
Highly recommended!

I bought this cd for our son, who is from Guatemala. As soon as the music starts playing, he is dancing and clapping to the music. It is a fun cd, I find myself dancing around the kitchen when its on. highly reccomend.

Not really for kids - at least not all of it,

I would like to start by saying that I LOVE putumayo records and I have a gazillion of them at home. However, I am very dissapointed at this record. Although the sound might sound upbeat to parents, the only children's records are #1 through #5. Number 6 is a call to arms and violence by the Ecuatorian guerrilla. Of course you wouldn't know it if you don't know Spanish, because it is a very lively upbeat tune. However as a bilingual+ household, this is one I will not be playing to my 3 year old again. The rest are, as someone on this forum said, good for ambient music for the 30-something parents' party... but I think there's much better children's records out there in the Latin American world.

When we put on this CD, the whole family dances! My 5 year old grabs a maraca, my wife a tambourine, and I samba with my 1.5 year old. This is a huge hit with us -- can't help but put a smile on your face.

This is a good CD but I was expecting something a bit more up beat by the what the other reviews had posted. The playlist is composed of what would be considered "country" latin music.

Song Mix-Up,
This review is from: Latin Playground (Audio CD)
Wonderful music! Great variety! The kids in my classroom love dancing to it.
If you are listening to the samples of the music, however, be aware that for some reason Amazon mixed up the tracks. The tracks listed are for the new Latin Playground CD, but the music that is played is actually the music from the Latin Playground activity kit (a different CD). Seven of the songs are different, two songs are in the wrong order. Hopefully they get this fixed soon!

our favorite weekend morning music,

A friend with older kids passed this along for free, but it immediately became our favorite cd for playing and dancing around with our toddler. It's upbeat and fun to sing along to. Even my husband, who doesn't know Spanish, gets the songs stuck in his head. My daughter loves to dance to it. But the songs aren't too kiddie so I wouldn't be afraid to play it at an adult party.

I love the Putumayo series of children's music. I owned a children's play center and wanted music playing in the background. Some children's song can be very, let's say, annoying for adult to be subjected to for hours at a time. I and others found these CDs to be fabulous! With music from around the world, children are exposed to different languages, rhythms and instruments. I highly recommend these CDs!

As it is a Putumayo CD, it is enjoyable but I think the World Playground CDs are better value

Fantastic music to listen to, however the best thing about this CD is that every time we put it on at home our toddler jumps up and starts to dance. Great tunes, from the well-known (Guantanamera, Cielito Lindo) to other more obscure stuff with fun lyrics too... Get out the maracas and tambourine and play along!
