About the Author

Mariela Dabbah received her MFA from the University of Buenos Aires. An immigrant from Argentina in 1988, she originally came to this country as a tourist. She eventually received her green card and has started several companies. She currently teaches several courses in the New York Community College system such as: Spanish for Marketing Agencies, How to Get a Job, and Spanish Writing for Business Purposes. Mariela has also appeared as an expert and consultant on the show Dialogo de Costa a Cos

Arturo Poire has a Masters in Sociology from the University of Buenos Aires and an MBA from NYU. He is currently a Vice President of Human Resources. Mr. Poire is a frequent collaborator with newspapers like La Nacion (Argentina) and El Pais (Uruguay). He lives in New York City, New York.

Author, speaker and media contributor, Mariela Dabbah was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She was the owner of a book distributor where she developed parent and teacher workshops. After she sold her assets, she focused on her writing career and has become a renowned personality through her work. She presents in corporations and universities across the country and is frequently seen on CNN, Univision, Telemundo and other networks. She is the founder of Latinos in College, a not-for-profit organization that helps Latinos find everything they need to graduate from college.

When I was coaching a junior executive who happened to be Latino, I used this book as a companion guide for our coaching. My client had many "aha" moments, and I must say, I also learned a lot! It's an easy read, but it covers all the bases and pulls no punches. I'd recommend it whether you are Latino or just want to be more aware of cultural differences.

Short and to the point, this book offers tips and insight on the advantage of being Hispanic in the United States. Many Latinos, whether they speak Spanish or not, are often not aware that they do indeed have an added advantage that stems from their heritage and roots, and, if they are bilingual, the fact that they speak one of the most important languages in the world right now.

This book uses insightful commentary and context while providing actionable tools to really strengthen what i think we all know is inside, but sometimes lack the know-how to leverage. With sensitivity and understanding this brings the opportunity of the usa and the nuance of latin america together.
