From the Back Cover

Maya Davis already has many titles—Christian, barista, maid of honor (new), possible girlfriend (newer), aunt (newest)—and her life is about to become even more complicated. Just when she thought things couldn’t get any worse, her ex-boyfriend proposes to her roommate and best friend, Jen. It’s not long until their apartment becomes Wedding Central. As if that weren’t enough, Jen’s obnoxious mom moves in to help plan the wedding, and Maya’s genius brother and sister-in-law announce that they're expecting. Then to top it off, there's the whole matter of Jack—is it love? Who wouldn't need a coffee break!

Most of my Christian reading seems to be historical books, but it's so refreshing to read Christian chick lit.

Latte Daze is the second book in Erynn Mangum's Maya Davis series.

I am a huge Erynn Mangum fan. I've loved all of her books, and this one is no exception. Her writing voice is fun, and her characters are too. Erynn is also one of the best about including a spiritual concept or truth without sounding preachy. The new character of Ethan was a good addition to the cast, and I am eager to see what happens with him in book three. I also love that this book showed a little more depth in the relationship between Maya and her mom.

While I enjoyed the book (especially the development of Jen's mom), I felt this book moved a little slowly. There are a lot of subplots that could have been developed a little more instead of focusing on food/drink/movie details quite as much. The plot developed, but it didn't move as quickly as I would have liked until the end! The last chapter of the book was the best and left me excited about the release of the third book in the series.

Erynn Mangum does not cease to disappoint. Each time she puts out her next novel... I can't help but sit down and devour the thing in a day or two. And LATTE DAZE is no exception at all. Mangum brings back her typical style mixing it with humor, real life, and the hard moments, and out comes a journey that's both fun and meaningful all in one breath.

Maya Davis is still working away at Cool Beans, knowing that with each day, she gets closer to when her now boyfriend Jack leaves to work at the zoo. And on top of all this, her roommate Jen is getting married to Travis, which means that not only will Maya have to deal with Jen's crazy mother, but also with all the members of Travis' family that she once knew when Maya herself was known as the "girlfriend" to Travis. And things just couldn't get more complicated, but when Maya Davis, coffee, and the heart are involved, it's bound to only get worse as things go.

Mangum continues her winning formula that worked so well with the LAUREN HOLBROOK novels (MISS MATCH, REMATCH, and MATCHPOINT) and really begins to transcend some of her earlier writing. Her settings and descriptions are better than ever here. And the humor is top notch. I had to stop reading for a moment as everyone stared at me laughing many times throughout. I always know that it's going to be a fun ride with any of Mangum's books. Her characters here seem to be somewhat stronger than in LAUREN HOLBROOK, and Maya almost seems more fun to follow.

**SPOILER WARNING**
The only thing that I can say as a slight caveat to everything mentioned above is the fact that I could see the events at the end of the book coming from the beginning.

My Take: I really liked this book. The above description says that is written for teens but I think women of all ages would like it (after all I am almost 50). I really found myself liking the main characters Maya and Jen. I thought that they showed that there are legimate ways to handle life that doesn't involve what the secular world would do. They also prove that you can have fun and still be a Christian!

The Humar throughout the enitre book was uplifting and kept the book light and enjoyable.

If you are in the mood for a light fun read I would recommend this book (no matter what your age!).
thsi book is part of a series and although at times I foudn myself wishing I would have read the first book you don't need to read the first one in order to enjoy this one. You will probably want to read the first one though just to be able to read more about Maya and her friends.

I received this from Navpress for review purposes. I was not required to write a postive review.

Maya Davis' life is complicated. Her ex-boyfriend is engaged to her roommate and best friend, she is barista at Cool Beans, and her brother and sister-in-law have just announced they are pregnant. Then there is Jack, her co-worker and friend who might be falling in love with her. Does she love him? After all they have been friends since second grade. When she thinks her life could not get more complicated, her roommate's totally obnoxious mom moves into the apartment to help plan the wedding--or does she have a more sinister agenda?

Told with humor and fun, this story will keep you wondering what will happen next. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and plan to read more by this author. erynn's light-hearted, down to earth style will leave you wanting more. Her brand of humor is like caffeine--addictive and at the same time satisfying. You will come away from this book with a fresh and rejuvenated look at life, love, and friendships.

I will recommend this writer's works to family and friends.

This book was given to me by NavPress in exchange for an honest review.
