I must admit I had a couple of problems figuring out how to use this device properly, at first I even thought it was defective! After speaking with the very helpful tech support guy in San Jose, the penny dropped and I felt embarrassed that I hadn't RTFM (read the f manual)!
This is a very loaded MP3 player, 16 GB with slot for more memory, and boasts a superb FM transmitter as well as a great FM radio. You can watch movies or just listen to music, or even use it as a flash drive for your computer. It is light and portable with a quality screen and comes with great headphones too. You can use it as a recorder and listen with the built in speaker (tinny but better than nothing).
Get the optional Latte Ice sleeve to protect it. Enjoy!

I have a Latte Ice 16GB over a month. I spent 3 hours a day with the player on average. I read the reviews from previous owners before my purchase. It appeared to be a good buy for me since it's within my price range and supports Micro SD card.

Now, I could play and sync the songs via Windows Media Player but the player cannot be turned on. The Troubleshooting in the user's manual: ' ..if the player cannot turn on after fully charged, please contact us at support@latteglobal.com'. The company's online website is not helpful at all.

I'm waiting for them to solve my problems via email.

I ordered this unit as an alternative to an iPod because of the low price for the capacity and for the built in transmitter. Since it doesn't self-organize using itunes it's basically all manual operation, and the firmware is apparently unstable. The user;s guide warns the user not to unplug the unit from a PC while it's updating, or it may damage the unit, but there is no indication of when that process is complete. Customer service is automated email and no one has responded in about two weeks. I ALOS SPENT FOR THE ADDITIONAL 16gb card, so I have about $150 wasted on this thing. Learn, all, from my mistake.

I bought the device for my daughter last Christmas (12/2009). I returned the first device when it failed and they replaced it. The second device has now failed and their customer service has gone radio silent on me. I would rather (and probably will) get a different device for my daughter but I will also try one more time to get a reliable device from Latte.

Update: I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau of San Jose. I am apparently not the first. I recently learned that Latte has an "F" rating with the BBB. Buy from this company at your own risk. In my opinion the company is disreputable and the device is unreliable. I am surprised that Amazon is still carrying it or any product from Latte.

That pretty much sums it up. I bought this player for the screen size, FLAC playback and memory size. It worked somewhat fine for about two months (had some glitches with video playback and battery life was only about half as advertised). Suddenly, the unit wouldn't power up at all. I contacted their customer support e-mail three weeks ago and followed up with three more e-mails. No response. I Can't find a phone number anywhere to call either in the literature included, or on their website. It looks slick, but don't waste your money. Just my guess, but I think this company is a reseller that doesn't have the know how to fix the products they sell.

I bought it little over a moth ago and I had it replaced twice since.
The first one just didn't work. As I turned it on it kept frantically switching between the folders.
I called the tech support and reformatted it as instructed. It still didn't work so I went to J&R and got new one.
The new one worked fine for a while but the menu button became somewhat unresponsive after a week. It still worked but I had to press on it really hard. Also it had a bug where every now and then the machine would stop and make loud static noise. Not to mention that battery life advertised at 9 HR for music is barely 4.5-5 HR tops. When the SDS extension memory stick catapulted out of it's slot for no apparent reason (after 3 weeks of use) it was time for me to get yet another one. Luckily the folks at J&R were nice enough to give me another unit even though it passed their 14 day return/exchange policy. I've had this one for a week. This unit too goes into that static noise once for every album I listen and battery life still sucks (4.5-5 HR). Another thing that bothers me is that the folders are not listed in alphabetical order (artists and albums are but the folders are not). I wonder how long is this one going to last before it breaks.
The reason I bought this unit and and I'm trying to stick with it is because it plays FLAC files (as well as MP3, OGG, WAV etc.). I have huge FLAC collection and it makes no sense converting it to WAV and burning it to cdrs.
I have way to many discs as it is. On the pros side besides the ability to play FLAC files the unit also has manual equalizers (a huge plus in my book). There are not to many units with these options. It is a shame that they could not make it more reliable and with longer battery life (at least 12-15 HR). I cannot comment on it's video, audio books and FM capabilities as I don't use those features. I will also mention that the sound quality is quite nice with Panasonic RP-HJE300 ear buds and when plugged to my stereo system using audio cables. What else? They could have made it smaller too (for people like me who don't use it to watch videos) but that's just a personal note.
Closing statement:
I wish that somebody out there would make a unit that plays FLAC files (as well as other formats mentioned above) with manual equalizers, longer battery life and small in size.

I bought this mp3 player on Dec. 19, 2009 and I got it on Dec. 23 (FREE shipping from Amazon.com. This was very good). I only used this player for a couple of days. I found out that the DELETE function does not work. The next day a RED screen appeared and I couldn't see the main menu anymore. So, I formatted the player to see if I could fix the problems. Then I reseted the power, the player didn't power up at all(Using both the AC adapter and the USB cable).

Like several of the other reviewers, I bought this to play flac files, it failed after a couple of months and I got no where with the company service/technical contacts. I asked Amazon for help contacting the company but they said they could not help. Amazon should quit selling this company's products. THEY ARE A RIPOFF!!!

DON'T BUY THIS PLAYER. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY.
I got it last Nov and immediately notice it resets periodically when charging.
It sometimes skips to the next song when I press the volume botton.
Sound quality is so so. Battery life was decent at the beginning and now is terrible.
The earphone jack is broken so I have to press the earphone to one side to hear from both sides.

I emailed customer service twice for warranty and got no response.

Brought this for my daughter. Had it only for two days and it is already broken (the screen is red and nothing is showing) . Looks good, but........ Such a disapointment for my daughter.
