Product Description

The Frescobaldi family has played a significant role in the development of cultural life in Florence since the Middle Ages. They served as patron to a number of poets, musicians, and explorers during this time. In addition, they were key merchants in the major guilds of Florence. All of this contributed to Florence being recognized as a focal point of the renaissance. The Frescobaldis have always enjoyed a very close relationship with agriculture, long being one of Tuscany's premium wine producers. In more recent years they began applying their experience with growing grapes to growing olives and developing innovations in oil production. The Laudemio Consortium holds each of it members to strict standards from how the olive tree's are planted, to how the fruit is harvested, and finally to how the oil is extracted from the fruit. These strict standards assure that the oil produced is of the highest quality and carries true essence of the olive fruit. Frescobaldi Laudemio is limpid and clear, with a brilliant green color, intense essence of grass, with a lush full fruit pallet, clean and bright, with a hit of black pepper on the finish... a true star! Pour liberally on Fettunta (thick slices of grilled country bread) sprinkled with coarse salt. Finish pasta with puree of cooked leeks and Parmigiano Reggiano. Region: Florence, Tuscany Olive cultivars: Frantoio, Moraiolo, Leccino Filtered, Estate-bottled Description: Green, fruity, and sophisticated. A fresh aroma with hints of artichoke and pepper. Traditions: Use as a condiment over beans, grilled or steamed vegetables, drizzle over soups. Rated #1 Tuscan oil in 1997 by Wine Spectator. Rated "Best Olive Oil" at the Summer Fancy Food Show 2001, New York

5.0 out of 5 stars Great, Tuscan olive oil, June 12, 2009
This review is from: Laudemio Extra Virgin Olive Oil ,Harvest 2009 16.9-Ounce Bottle (Pack of 2) (Grocery)
Although I like to try lots of different olive oils to explore the many and varied flavors, if I had to choose just one, it would probably be Laudemio, from one of the greatest wine estates of Tuscany, the Marchesi di Frescobaldi. Laudemio is produced from early harvested Tuscan varieties of Frantoio, Moraiolo and Leccino olives grown and pressed on Frescobaldi's hillside estate in Chianti Rufina. What makes Laudemio so special is that it combines the best of the classic, "grippy" style of the best Tuscan olive oil with the softer, more buttery notes more typical of the better olive oils from southern Italy and Spain. That makes it great not only for drizzling over grilled meats and vegetables, but for dipping in your favorite loaf of crusty Italian or French bread. Clear and intensely green, fruity, full, well-rounded and spicy, this dark olive- green has subtle floral and mineral aromas, and it is full -bodied and peppery, with a very fresh and lively after taste. It is a classic olive oil of the highest quality, and I highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite brand of premium olive oil., February 20, 2010

This review is from: Laudemio Extra Virgin Olive Oil ,Harvest 2009 16.9-Ounce Bottle (Pack of 2) (Grocery)
I have tried quite a few brands of olive oil, and this is my favorite so far. It has an intense flavor, and is clearly a premium brand. There may be better brands out there but I haven't found them yet.
