Newmom,
This review is from: Laugh and Learn About Childbirth - Part1 (Amazon Instant Video)
Meant to review this two years ago! Was induced unexpectedly and hadn't been to Lamaze class (long story...thought I'd be a C but then they wanted to try vaginal).
Completely unprepared. My husband and I watched this and part two at the hospital (was there two days). I watched the whole thing and would note the important parts for him and rewind to those parts. Used it for help with breathing, coaching and eventually, pushing (although the nurse was a bit taken aback when I said, I poop him out, right?). Would highly recommend to folks either before they do Lamaze classes or, if they're like me and pull a "Murphy Brown" (I'm not ready, I'm not ready). Good luck to all!

I rented this and then went and purchased the dvds for my husband and I to watch. It was very informative, very funny and we learned a lot. I love the fact that she was a L&D nurse, so she is not againist hospitals and medical staff and that she uses that experience to give you an understanding of what to expect from labor, delivery and post partum. She does gloss over some areas, but truthfully I can see why. She shows you different techniques for breathing and comfort measurements, and she doesnt give you time to "practice" these, but hello, it is DVD, pause it! She talks about the use of epidurals as okay and fine to use, but still prefers the "natural" childbirth choice, which is how most classes are anyways. She is real about recovery. The best part about this is she includes a good amount of information on c-sections, from why to have them, how they happen, what to expect, and how to recover. She even talks a little about v-bacs. My husband and I watched a segment or two once a week until we finished the series and then passed the video onto a friend who is having her 3rd and wants to go all natural for this one. I am interested to hear her thoughts on this video since I had a c-section the first time and now will vbac, so labor is a bit of a mystery for me still.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

This is my second pregnancy; I had used the previous version of "Laugh and Learn about Childbirth" during my first pregnancy three years ago so I found a lot of the information to be repetitive. I was a little disappointed that this version didn't focus on breathing techniques like the earlier version though (that was the main reason why I choose to purchase this instant download).
I do like the easy to use format of Amazon's instant download movies... their prices could be a little better though. |
