Book Description

February 16, 2007
Ralph "Petey" Greene was a comic genius who spent years "clowning around" and spiraling to life's lowest depths. Then he conned, rhymed, and "speechified" his way to heights he hardly dared imagine, using lessons from his unconventional grandmother. He gained national recognition with "Petey Greene's Washington," on cable (BET), and when he signed off with, "I'll tell it to the hot, I'll tell it to the cold, I'll tell it to the young, I'll tell it to the old, I don't want no laughin', I don't want no cryin', and most of all, no signifyin' ...," viewers asked, "Who IS this man?"

Laugh ... answers and introduces two characters destined to capture hearts.

5.0 out of 5 stars A unique look at family and Washington, DC, November 16, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This book gives the reader a look at life in Washington DC from the perspective of someone who went through a personal transformation not of his own choosing.

Petey Greene had been a Korean War Veteran, a bum, a prisoner, a son, a brother, and a father whose mouth was either going to "get him rich or get him killed." The book not only is the story of Petey Greene in his own words. It takes us on the journey of his family, and their life experiences in the Georgetown section and U street sections of Washington, DC. A part of history too rarely considered.

Buy it...read it...you'll be glad you did...
