1.0 out of 5 stars Not worth it.
I bought this book because it seemed funny and what I needed to bring my spirit up. It ended bringing me down even more! When you read it, it looks like a someone trying to get even at all those people that havent had this problem. It gives unworthy advise that only help you feel resented. For example, it says that if a friend of yours tells you she is pregnant what...

A wise person once said, "Laughter is the best medicine." The hysterical author, Lisa Safran, takes this saying to a new level. She shares her experience of infertility in a way that is bound to help you relax and find humor in every aspect of your baby making journey.

Having fertility problems is no laughing matter for a couple who wants so much to have a baby. However, the author is here to help you get through the grueling process by letting you know what to anticipate, and she shows you that it is possible to find humor along the way.

Laughin'fertility is like a cross between The Girlfriend's Guide to Pregnancy (Infertility) and a What to Expect When You're going through IVF.

Reading Laughin'fertility is bound to help you keep a positive approach while you go through your own journey of infertility. Hopefully, the author will inspire you to keep an open mind and a light heart while reminding you every day that "laughter is indeed the best medicine."

I highly recommend it to anyone who is having trouble conceiving.

4.0 out of 5 stars Laughed Out Loud!, July 31, 2003
This review is from: Laughin'fertility: A Bundle of Observations for the Baby-Making Challenged (Paperback)
This book is a MUST for anyone facing infertility and is regularly subjected to that awful (AND RUDE) question, "So when are you two kids going to have kids?" Her responses to that question and many more are priceless. My only disappointment was that the book was more suited for couples facing IVF and have male factor infertility. But this was the first book I've read about infertility that really deals with the emotional coping aspect. And I'd much rather laugh than cry!

Lisa really has the reader feel like you're not alone in your struggle. Even if her situation isn't quite the same as what you are going thru, you relate on so many levels. It means so much to read something so lighthearted to balance out the stress & emotional rollercoaster of having fertility problems. Thankyou! Enough seriousness already--a welcome breath of fresh air and positive vibes!

5.0 out of 5 stars Should be called, "How To Laugh when You're NOT Expecting", August 17, 2004
After reading so many books and being overwhelmed by the clinical information available to the "baby-making challenged," Laughin'fertility was an absolute joy. It helped me find humor where I was otherwise angry (who DOESN'T have an older relative who thinks asking "so when are you kids gonna have a baby?" is funny), and it has helped me smile when I would've liked to cry. The author shines a spotlight on some of the unknown aspects of certain procedures--procedures that filled me with dread initially--and shows us that, with a deep breath and a smile on your face, you can get through anything. I would suggest giving a copy of this book to friends, relatives, even acquaintances who want to understand just what it is to go through this extraordinary--and difficult--time. You don't have to be baby-making challenged to get a kick out of this book. All you need is a heart and a sense of humor. Laughter is good for your body, and when you want a baby you try to take care of yourself--so why not let yourself relax and enjoy this lighthearted treasure. It's a great way to spend your time as you go through this incredible process.

This book is a very easy read and quiet entertaining for both myself and my husband. The author points out the humorus side of a lot of the things couples struggling with infertility are faced with. It makes it a lot more endurable when you can see the funny in it. I would recommend this book for anyone struggling with infertility! Laughter truely is the best medicine.

5.0 out of 5 stars Laughter is the Best Medicine, March 10, 2005
If laughter is the best medicine, then this book is a must read for the fertility challenged.

In the stressful world of infertility, Lisa Safran is a genuine, sympathetic, and hilarious guide. She takes the reader along on her emotional rollercoaster ride, witnessing everything from her candid accounts of fertility procedures, to her witty comebacks for unsolicited advice from annoying relatives.

Through it all, Safran finds the humor where it might not easily be seen.

This book and Safran's sense of humor are gifts for anyone struggling with fertility.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thank you for making me laugh!, March 2, 2005
I have never read a book like this before! Laughin'fertility is a very funny read. It takes a lot of courage to laugh at the ridiculous parts of infertility treatments and author Lisa Safran does a great job in sharing her personal experiences with a refreshingly humorous slant. If you or anyone you know is having fertility problems this book is a must.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must read for the Baby Making Challenged!, October 2, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Laughin'fertility: A Bundle of Observations for the Baby-Making Challenged (Paperback)
How refreshing! I am currently going through IVF treatment and amidst the shots and the raging hormones, this book brings it all into perspective, and leaves you feeling very positive. It finds humour in the darkest corners of infertility, a humor which can only be delivered by a fellow 'Baby Making Challenged' person. It's a very easy and entertaining read....it'll keep you sane and positive!

This review is from: Laughin'fertility: A Bundle of Observations for the Baby-Making Challenged (Paperback)
The book is a light, humorous look at infertility. However, I didn't know that the book was based solely on the author's personal experience. I was a little disappointed that the author did not address experiences with Clomid, for example. Nonetheless, the book was enjoyable, and anyone struggling with infertility can relate to it on some level.
