Book Description

May 4, 2004
Infertility - it's the latest "trend," and for most couples there isn't a darn thing funny about it. Well, don't be so sure. In Laughin'fertility, a guide to laughter by "baby-making challenged" author Lisa Safran, discover a funny, new perspective on the procedures, experiments, and studies so many people go through to make a baby. Laughin'fertility is a must for couples dealing with any aspect of infertility. And best of all, it will help sharpen laughter skills and prepare for what will hopefully be the next highly amusing challenge: parenthood.

Editorial Reviews

About the Author

Lisa Safran writes from personal experience. She and her husband spent five long years trying to conceive a baby. As the author's baby-making process intensified, Ms. Safran realized that if she didn't find the strength to laugh at some of these situations she would have cried a lot more. Laughin fertility is a collection of these funny observations. Lisa Safran is a professional writer, having worked as a promotional copywriter as well as a contributing writer to national magazines. The KOKO Press imprint, named after the ancient Indian fertility spirit Kokopelli, was birthed to promote the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Laughin'fertility gets 5 pacifiers from BabyLounge.com, November 28, 1999
A wise person once said, "Laughter is the best medicine." The hysterical author, Lisa Safran, takes this saying to a new level. She shares her experience of infertility in a way that is bound to help you relax and find humor in every aspect of your baby making journey.

Having fertility problems is no laughing matter for a couple who wants so much to have a baby. However, the author is here to help you get through the grueling process by letting you know what to anticipate, and she shows you that it is possible to find humor along the way.

Laughin'fertility is like a cross between The Girlfriend's Guide to Pregnancy (Infertility) and a What to Expect When You're going through IVF.

Reading Laughin'fertility is bound to help you keep a positive approach while you go through your own journey of infertility. Hopefully, the author will inspire you to keep an open mind and a light heart while reminding you every day that "laughter is indeed the best medicine."

I highly recommend it to anyone who is having trouble conceiving.

4.0 out of 5 stars Laughed Out Loud!, July 31, 2003
This book is a MUST for anyone facing infertility and is regularly subjected to that awful (AND RUDE) question, "So when are you two kids going to have kids?" Her responses to that question and many more are priceless. My only disappointment was that the book was more suited for couples facing IVF and have male factor infertility. But this was the first book I've read about infertility that really deals with the emotional coping aspect. And I'd much rather laugh than cry!

Lisa really has the reader feel like you're not alone in your struggle. Even if her situation isn't quite the same as what you are going thru, you relate on so many levels. It means so much to read something so lighthearted to balance out the stress & emotional rollercoaster of having fertility problems. Thankyou! Enough seriousness already--a welcome breath of fresh air and positive vibes!
