The book explores the different types of Buddhas and what they mean based on their different poses, artifacts, facial expressions, etc. The book tells you how to use your laughing Buddha to attract happiness and laughter into your own life. The so-called "laughing" Buddha certainly deserves better than this. The statue seems to be wearing red pajamas
and the accompanying booklet is equally silly and worthless. Visit your local Chinatown and you are certain to find far better representations of this particular Buddha who is actually extremely profound and deserving of

5.0 out of 5 stars A Wonderful and Thoughful Gift...., January 1, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Laughing Buddha Box (Paperback)
I purchased the Laughing Buddha box for a close friend of mine who was inteesting in Buddha and his teachings and his life.
I have studied Buddha and have texts on his teachings. He said he trul enjoyed the statue, box and altar, and small book on his teachings.
I would recommend this to anyone just learning about the Buddha or even someone who would truly appreciate a very vivid and beautiful statue of Buddha to have in one's home.

You can't look at this cute little laughing Buddha without smiling so it brings happiness.
The book tells his history, different kinds of Laughing Buddha statues and what they mean.
Ever wondered what all those signs, symbols mean and why Buddha is fat when you see the statue in Chinese resturants? Well, you'll know when you read the book.
Also, He reminds us to laugh at our problems, brings positive energy and You can get some Buddhas for lucks, prosperity and other things..So, Winch is the next Buddha statue you should buy or Where do you sit it to attract certain things well, it'll tell you.
If nothing else he just makes me think don't worry be happy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice inexpensive Happy Buddha gift, January 17, 2010

I gave this as a gift to a friend who is just beginning to explore Buddhism. The statue cute and made out of some kind of resin. The little book that is included is short and contains good information. The package includes a small altar for the statue to stand on and the book can be tucked into the pocket on the back of the altar. Shipping was as expected. The only con I can think of is that I wish the statue was made out of a better material (e.g. ceramic) which I would be happy paying extra for.
