5.0 out of 5 stars Thunder Always "Thunders", February 4, 2004

I first bought this CD when it was released back in 1992 and still listen to it religiously today(I've worn out 2 other copies). Thunder always rocked (amazing for a British band of that time). From the hammer of "Fire to Ice" to the melodic sounds of "Like A Satellite" Thunder's sound is distinctive. I would recommend any Thunder CD to anyone who love good ol' fashioned rock and roll.

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic hard rock, extremely well done, June 9, 2009

I had Backstreet Symphony for years before I knew Thunder was so prolific. I had heard 'Dirty Love' on the radio back when it first came out and hunted it up. This album is probably just as good though I've gotten quite attached to the other one. I'm starting up my Thunder collection. If you like well-written, well-performed melodic hard rock with gritty, powerful vocals I'll be amazed if you don't like this. There's no hair metal cheese here. This is the real deal.

I am always searching for these bands I haven't heard before and I am again surprised to find yet another band that is not well known in U.S., but should be...Thunder could appeal to anyone who likes just about any type of rock, These guys are equal to Van Halen, or Foreigner or Bad Company, but even better maybe. Bluesy hard rock with excellent hooks.

5.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME album from an under-rated GIANT!!!, May 30, 2004

Thunder is one of those 'undiscovered legends' of rock n' roll! If you love hard rockin' music with great hooks, tasteful soloing, and downright incredible songwriting ability, then you simply MUST get some of these guys releases!! And their singer,Danny Bowes, has a voice similar to Paul Rogers (yeah-he's THAT good!),with a hint of David Coverdale & even a bit of Steve Perry. I'd seen the MTV video hit "Dirty Love" from their first album a couple times back in the early 90's. Thought it was a great catchy song & very 'cheeky' video. Heard nothing from them until the local radio played the first cut from this, their 2nd album around 3 in the morning. As usual-the d.j. didn't even say who the song was by. Well, I immediately called the station long distance to find out who wrote this awesome tune. When they told me it was a new tune from 'Thunder', I went out in search of what was this disc 'Laughing on Judgement Day'. When I listened to it, I was completely SOLD on this great band! Do yourself a HUGE favor & get this (amazingly low-priced) disc. You'll soon be scrambling to get their other fine albums/discs as well! And GREAT NEWS-they've since re-formed!! See my review for the latest 'Shooting At The Sun' disc...also a KILLER!! ENJOY

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Album... But Not Their Best!, July 13, 2008
This review is from: Laughing on Judgement Day (Audio CD)
Let me start with saying that I love this album and find it well worth the purchase. HOWEVER, if you are not familiar with "Backstreet Symphony" and are just getting your feet wet with this band, that may be a better place to start.

Although this album is quite catchy and in good form, it is a bit more "pop" than their prior effort. It seems as if the producers tried to smoothe out their edge a bit, but this is definitely a fine follow-up to their first.
