About the Author

Little is known about Walter C. Lanyon, except that he was an American born Englishman, educated in this country, England, France and Germany. He died in California in 1967.

Walter Lanyon was the author of over forty books on Truth which have had a wide and continued circulation. Though most of his books are now out of print, there remains a constant demand for them. He traveled and lectured all over the world, basing his lectures, as he said, " solely on the revelation of Jesus Christ."

He felt that the very simplicity of the WORD was the point that baffled most Truth students.

{In addition to his books, apparently Walter Lanyon wrote two light operas, many secular stories, plays and articles, all of which are now lost. This is also true of paintings he is said to have exhibited in Europe and the U.S.

From Chapter 1: The Laughter of God

Deep in my soul I heard the laughter of God, ringing in silvery cadences through the timbers of my being, breaking the human bonds and limitations, as a strong yet gentle wind in the forest sweeps aside the strands of a cobweb. The hard, fast knots that I had tied slipped loose, and the snarls of beliefs broke free. The river of my human life, frozen by a thousand and one false ideas and teachings, broke joyously into expression and went bounding to the infinite sea of life, to be lost and found at the same time.

One dark cave of fear after another was illuminated by the light of this laughter, and swampy areas of sick thoughts were dried up instantly. Parched sands of hopelessness and futile efforts were drenched by the living waters, sucked in -- absorbed instantly -- like a wave breaks in on the sands. God laughing at me, and my puny efforts to make things happen; to make haven appear; to attain the Sonship. Not the laugh of derision, but of infinite compassion, a laughter so deep and sweet, so pure and glorious that everything in the nature of struggle gave way before it.

Lanyon has a wonderful way of using every day life events to reveal what we the born-again Christian "already" have within us. He shows us in the simlpest terms with scripture as his foundation, the treasure hidden inside you. When I am in a problem, his gentle touch through words makes me see through the darkness to the light by encouraging me to know I have the "single eye" Jesus spoke about. Lanyon always points the reader to the Beloved Jesus. My view of Christianity has gone to a new level of awareness by this encounter. 30 titles are back in print right now. I want to start a Book Discussion Group in Baltimore.
