5.0 out of 5 stars Cheerful
This was a gift for a person in the hospital and preparing for a long haul to get better. It was the best gift you can give as, no matter how much you do not want to laugh, you laugh just reading it. Remember, Laughter really is the Best Medicine.

3.0 out of 5 stars Maybe not what you expect
I bought this book (part II) and found it to be identical to the original hardcover (version I you could call it) I bought several years ago. The book itself is good, but the title with Part II on the cover is misleading.

I have always been a fan of the Reader's Digest, particularly their humor sections. This pulls together the best of their offerings over the years, and it's a great read for anyone who likes to laugh.

4.0 out of 5 stars Giggles...., November 5, 2008

The book is pretty cute. Its filled with three sentence stories from people who have experienced funny things in life.

It does have a couple of pages with full page funny stories. It's great to read on the subway or in a waiting room.

I was expecting to be rolling on the floor laughing my butt off, but this wasn't the case. Only giggles. Stories I could probably share with a friend, co-worker, even a boss to get a "ha" or a "Smile"

Basically, it's just a book to kill some time, no matter where you left off.

This simply is a very funny book. It is a great way to relax and unstress. Sometimes, it's good to have a tissue handy because some of the stories can literally bring "tears of laughter".

2.0 out of 5 stars Subset of "Laughter, The Best Medicine", April 3, 2011
This review is from: Laughter, The Best Medicine II (Paperback)
When I bought this, I thought that this book was part II of "Laughter, The Best Medicine." Imagine my surprise when I found out that this is a slimmed down version of the original. The original (ISBN-13: 978-0762105458) had 366 pages; this one has 272. A sneaky way to sell this book to the buyers of the original book?

If you don't have the first book, this is a pretty good book to buy---the jokes are good. But, the original has many more jokes and might be a better buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simple, clean, and enjoyable, April 26, 2010

I am enjoying this book. I have it from the National Library Service in audio book format. It is not jaw dropping funny. It just makes you smile and chuckle. It is just what I needed.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not What You Think..., September 8, 2009
This review is from: Laughter, The Best Medicine II (Paperback)
This is probably not what you think it is. It is entitled Laughter the Best Medicine II, which would lead one to think that it's the second part of Laughter the Best Medicine (volume I), but it's not. It's not simply jokes taken from the popular column in the magazine like the first book. It MOSTLY includes quotes and real life stories that are at best amusing, but nothing that you would repeat with the words, "I got a good one for you..."
If you enlarge the cover, you'll see it includes what I described above - something I failed to do before I bought it. I just assumed that the title was a no brainer sequel to the first book - which by the way I thought was great. There were many jokes in it that can be retold and get a guaranteed laugh. This one unfortunately falls far short. I've picked it up 3 times and read many pages trying to find one that would be good enough to repeat, make me chuckle, or for that matter even smile. Unfortunately, stories that have "Then my 6 year old said..." or misprinted headlines, or even miscommunication in the workplace can only be considered cute at best.
If you are looking to get the first book, great! If you have it, reread it, hearing it twice is better than anythng you'll find here.

I have always enjoyed the Laughter section in the Readers Digest magazine. Now there is a book putting a great collection together. I totally love it.
