Godly and gritty, these pages look at life and how it should be lived! Author Acacia L. Slaton writes with spiritual insight and discernment, causing these pages to come alive with the Truth. Her candid and simple honesty is both touching and powerful. She is truly a woman who believes in the authority of the Bible and the very real presence of the Holy Spirit among us.

Each essay is short, but will reach deeply in the reader's heart. The topics are contemporary and compelling; these are subjects that affect our world today and those for which people are seeking genuine guidance. Her words reveal an understanding of the depth of emotions in our world, as she explains situations through her own personal experiences. Yet, throughout the book, there is a solid and strong emphasis on the Word of God.

The author has effectively bridged the gap between the natural and the spiritual world. Her complete reliance on the power of God brings a taste of heaven to some of today's bitter situations. Sexual promiscuity, peer pressure, disease and even crime are discussed with a bold and frank style. Readers will know there is nothing outside of God's reach that He cannot restore and make right again.

The author clearly and consistently shows the path to an abundant life in Christ. She freely acknowledges the pitfalls, but gives praise to the One who can keep people on track. An added layer of spiritual enlightenment comes from the poems that accompany many of these essays. Intense and extremely insightful, the words of Aaron L. Slaton provide a strong commentary to his sister's counsel.

Encouraging, yet filled with many hard-hitting exhortations, this book speaks with a contemporary language and a timeless commitment to love and truth.

The author has succeeded in relaying her own lessons in life into an insightful and inspirational book. Using both the good and bad choices she has made, the author examines the why? of her choices to provide counsel to all of us who face the same situations. Relevent to men and women and especially teenagers. I must highly recommend this book. Though this is a faith based book. It is relevant to everyone seeking to realize their value in todays world. Well written and enjoyable to read.

What a lovely read! I fell in love with this book and then I fell in love with the author. Such a sweet and gentle demeanor. It felt so good to read a book about real life, by someone who looks like me and has shared the same experiences. And the poetry peppered throughout the book was so,.... fitting. A must read. A wonderful coming of age book. If you know any teen-age girls, buy this for them. I feel as though my soul has been cleansed. Thank you for this awesome read!

"Launch Out Into the Deep" is heartfelt book of devotions by a very talented young writer and counselor, Acacia Beumer. As I read this book, I felt there were parts of it that seemed almost written for me. Amazing! Apparently Ms. Beumer has a gift of discernment that transcends into her writing career. If you are feeling lonely, discouraged, regretful or even rebellious, please read this book. It will truly touch your soul. "Launch Out Into the Deep" also includes poetry and reflections from Ms. Beumer's brother, Aaron Slaton, another talented writer. I am looking forward to reading future works by these authors! Please Note: I reviewed this book as part of the Reader's Spoils rewards program, but I was not required to write a favorable review.

A Kid's Review on February 1, 2007
Format: Paperback
My name is Anthony Ramson and [..]. And my favorite chapter was The Wide Road To Destruction. The reason that I like this chapter
is because it stood out among all of the other chapters.

Message: We all have a path we must choose in life. We must be careful in who we select as friends, who we choose to date, and most importantly not choosing Jesus as our personal Savior can have dire consequences.

A life without Him is full of sorrow and regrets. If we don't choose our path soon there is something bad waiting in hell for us. So we should think about the direction in which our life is headed.

The wrong path can lead to regrettable consequences!

For many, life is a constant battle between temptations and will-power, in which temptations take the upper hand. Sex, drugs, money, craving for fame, taking refuge in lies and deceit--the list goes on and on. When things are on the right track, these temptations feed on themselves, ultimately dragging the victim to the morass of destruction. But the way-laid man is also often reminded by the existence of a panacea to his moral degradation in the shape of a personal saviour, who goes by the name of Jesus. He also has the resort in the healing advice of Bible, which he treats with suspicion and derision when he is "upwardly mobile".

The book under review talks about the healing power of Faith and the grace of God, which are denied to none. Only thing asked from your side is to open the windows to your soul to benefit from God's blessings. Is this asking for too much? As the episodes in the personal lives of the authors reveal life's trials and tribulations bring us to the doorstep of our savior to make us realize what we have been missing thus far.

One of the most touching stories in the book is about the author's brief encounter with Mike, a sprightly and carefree youth of seventeen. A bond develops between them, notwithstanding the hesitation in the boy's mind about being close with a "church girl". But before the relationship blooms it is cut short by a tragic road accident, which takes away Mike, adding one more member in his family, whose life was cut short. Despite the devastation, author Acacia takes succor in one thing that Mike had made peace with God as his dying moments revealed. "People die young everyday. My advice is to develop a relationship with Jesus while you're young. Your next day is not promised! Don't leave this Earth without knowing Him!
