5.0 out of 5 stars Launch Your Career Search March 1, 2010
Format:Paperback
I was thrilled to be invited to contribute to Chris Perry's first Launchpad, among so many personal branding and careers industry thought leaders -- William Arruda, Meghan M. Biro, Tim Tyrell-Smith, Tory Johnson, Hajj Flemings, Pete Kistler, Liz Lynch, and Jacob Share, to name just a few. These are colleagues I've been learning from for quite a while and their Launchpad articles provide a whole new wealth of information.

For instance, in "Ten Ways to Make the 'Real' Virtual", William Arruda cautions:

"Personal branding on the World Wide Web shouldn't be considered in isolation, and it need not be onerous. Remember to link what you're doing in the real-world with content you post to the web -- and focus on quality. This will support your personal branding activities, ensure consistency of message and reduce the effort associated with building your brand in bits and bytes."

In "Mastering the Art of the Ask", Liz Lynch offers spot-on advice for walking that "delicate balance between asking for exactly what you want and keeping the relationship intact." Her suggestions are:

"First, choose WHO you ask . . . Second, choose WHAT you ask for . . . And third, choose HOW you ask."

And did you know that you can use Twitter to find jobs? Jacob Share offers his 10 step guide in "How to Use Twitter to Find Jobs". He explains how to leverage Twitter in active search and use it to brand yourself to passively attract job offers.

This handy book, which covers career search, personal branding, networking, resumes, interviews, social media, and entrepreneurship, will truly make you "ready for launch!"

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing resource for today's job seeker! March 1, 2010
Format:Paperback
This is a RIGHT NOW resource for job seekers in today's tough job market. Where else would you get top career experts all in one place discussing today's most important topics? After reading all the articles I found great nuggets of information that were extremely relevant to my career and to the careers of those I coach and clients I work with every day. As a contributor to the book I'm not just being biased this book really is chock full of great information that no job seeker should be without. I especially enjoyed the articles on personal branding as this seems to be a very hot topic these days. If you are in the job market I highly recomment you get your hands on this resource!
