Soft, clean, fragrant cashmere,

This is a truly great product. I have had a couple of wool sweaters come back from the dry cleaner rough and stiff, albeit clean. It is really true that the cleaning solution removes the natural oils that keep your wool soft. When I needed to clean a cashmere sweater, I purchased The Laundress Cashmere Shampoo. My sweater came out clean, soft and smelling wonderful (if you like the scent of cedar). You do have to have patience to swish your sweater in a tub, rinse and wrap in a towel, then lay flat. You will be rewarded a thousand times over, though. My sweaters actually seemed to be in better condition than when they went into the tub. If you have a sweater you love, or one that is expensive, use this!

I switched after yet another problem with Woolite, so for those of you wondering what the difference is between this and Woolite (other than price): Sweaters haven't shrunk or faded with this, while they did sometimes with Woolite. This also smells better and makes your sweaters softer (something about Woolite being too alkeline and stripping away the lanolin if I'm remembering my chemistry correctly). And it's better for the environment and all that jazz.
Due to my history of sweater destruction, I was initially unwilling to take any chances washing a $200 cashmere sweater myself, despite all the good reviews. So I worked my way up to the cashmere. After a few wool sweaters and some socks, I finally washed my favorite sweater and it turned out great. Better than the cleaners, actually, because it was soft and not awkwardly stiff. Since falling in love with Laundress products (I now have their delicates wash and stain remover, too), I've found myself gushing to friends only to get mocked for spending so much on detergent. So, for those of you on the fence, this is what I told my friends: -Price: It's cheap if you think of it as a dry cleaning alternative (it's even cheaper than that Dry Cleaner's Secret stuff, which doesn't even work that well). Plus it lasts forever. -Quality: For those worried that "green" laundry detergent = less effective + more expensive, don't. The people at the Laundress apparently really know fabrics and laundry, in addition to the environment. -Scent: Nope - it doesn't smell like Downy or a cool ocean breeze on a sunny summer's day or whatever you'd think of as "laundry detergent smell." But I like that. The cedar scent is functional (moths), not overpowering, and once your item has dried, it's barely detectable. It's not cedary in a chemical or sawdust smell kind of way, more like warm wood notes. It smells like winter? Though, if you hand wash, your bathroom will smell like a cedar closet for an hour or two afterwards. [...]

I purchased this product after it was recommended on Ideal Bite. This stuff is fabulous. I've washed 15 cashmere and wool sweaters and have barely made a dent in the bottle. (I have a "he" washer and only need to use half the usual amount.) I also add Downy to the rinse cycle, so my sweaters smell ever so much better than they ever did after a trip to the dry cleaner. The soap itself has a very mild, pleasant smell. My sweaters are actually softer than they were before, too. Rather than dry flat, I use a "hanging garment drying rack" also purchased at Amazon. Really, this is so much cheaper than dry cleaning and the results are so much better. And it's better for the environment than all those nasty chemicals.

Tried it on my off white cashmere sweater and it worked great. Left it soft and clean. Better than the dry cleaners.

I have been using this product for a couple of years now and have very enthusiastically recommended it to others. Amazing results with very little effort. I often soak my cashmere or wool sweaters overnight afer swishing them around for a minute in the completely biodegradable solution. The result is a fluffy, soft, clean, fragrant garment that is a pleasure to wear. These folks are keenly aware of the environment and how it relates to the needs of their customers. Oh how I wish this were so much more pervasive in today's marketplace.
It is worth every penny and the super saver shipping option with Amazon saves even more. You won't ever use anything else for your sweaters or knits EVER for any reason!

First of all, I NEVER write reviews, but I'm so impressed with this product that I decided I had to. I looked into the best ways to wash my cashmere sweaters, and found this product. After reading the reviews on various sites, I was a bit skeptical - can a product really be that good? Plus, $18 is pretty steep for a bottle of specialized laundry detergent. Nonetheless, I decided to give it a try, and true enough, just like all of the other reviews - when hand washing you can literally SEE the dirt coming off of each item (which was fascinating and a bit gross at the same time). The detergent suds up nicely, without creating too much foam, is easy to rinse off, and leaves a mild scent. Afterwards my items were much softer as well, but that could also be because all of the dirt has been stripped off!

This is a very good product. I've used nothing like it before.... I thought that all delicate detergents were created equal. This one is top quality, top notch.

LOVE the scent of this stuff. I use it for anything I want to handwash, not just wool or cashmere. Plus, I use it in my HE washer like a regular detergent.

When I first heard about "the Laundress", I was skeptical and not sure if I wanted to spend that much money on detergents. But after reading all good reviews and looking for a way to save dry cleaning bills, I decide to give it a shot. And now I am glad I did because I LOVE it!!!! First I tested with my everyday wool sweater and it worked perfectly. So I used this to wash my favorite cashmere sweaters and did what the label says. My sweater is very soft, clean with very gentle scent. I even washed my down coat following the instruction on the Laundress's website (or blog) and I can't be happier. This product definitely works amazingly. It is a bit more money than I would normally spend on detergents but this is definitely worth the money and makes me really care about my clothes. I will certainly purchase this product again.
