The latest in her "Free Money" series (e.g., Free Money for People in the Arts , LJ 8/91), Blum's book may be of increasing value to people struggling to pay medical bills. She lists private and public resources that individuals can apply to for assistance which provide aid for direct medical expenses as well as reimbursement for losses in regular income. Blum describes each source along with any restrictions placed on the distributed money. She also delineates application information, contact persons, and dollars allocated in previous years. This first book Blum has done in the healthcare field may have more limited use than others in her series; most people with a catastrophic illness may not be able to contend with the time and emotional commitment that the grant process takes.
