5.0 out of 5 stars Heart and Soul for the Eyes and Ears, November 17, 2003
By
Stacy Jewell (Washington, DC United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Lauryn Hill - MTV Unplugged No. 2.0 [VHS] (VHS Tape)
All I can say is, your eyes will be glued to the screen, and your ears will want to hear more. If there truly was an example of what the nature of UNPLUGGED is all about, this video would be the one. Lauryn Hill bares all in this heart wrenching delivery of raw feeling, thoughts and talent. Every song had a powerful burst of spirituality and thought provoking lyrics that were so deep I could hardly believe what I was hearing. In this video Lauryn had an open realness to her beauty, not the dressed up superstar look she had before, but more of a natural, this is me take it or leave it appeal; every facial expression showed her heartfelt emotional connection to each song, and she sucked me into her reality everytime she spoke. Each note that she hit or missed showed the truth about her humanity, yet it never took away from the respect or adoration she commanded from her stage presence. I give this Unplugged video 5 stars just because it is the most honest, beautiful performance I've ever seen.

5.0 out of 5 stars TRUTH, June 7, 2002
By A Customer
Lauryn Hill bleeds her heart out to everyone through this DVD. She inspires, motivates, and perpetuates inner thought. When watching this performance, one walks out feeling rejuvinated and re-evaluates society and your place in it. Inner demons seemed to haunt Lauryn Hill but obviously overcomes the tragedy of love, life, and forgiveness with oneself. She emates from what is raw and pure emotion which she uses her amazingly- beautiful rapsy voice and her acustic guitar. The music is only secondary as the message is the most thought- provoking passages I have encountered. Her performance of "I Gotta Find A Peace of Mind" is mind- altering, heart- dropping poetry of issues that we all deal with. Towards the end of the song, she cries and pours all her energy so she can get her point accross. The audience is left in tears as well as it is the most incredible sight one can be part of. Please, whether on MTV or through this DVD, just watch it and you will see a strong woman who overcomes everything and still can stand strong in the light of day.

Whenever i watch Lauryn's this dvd i fall in love. Lauryn sings it by-heart! I don't know any words to describe this album. Lauryn's great performance will make you cry, laugh and think about your life. I don't like hip-hop but this dvd, this album has a great concept. There are no reasons for you not to buy this dvd.
