I recently purchased this antenna - mostly as a test, but I may use it as my main antenna. I live about 25 miles from my main broadcast source. With just rabbit ears with power I was getting 3 stations. Upstairs I was getting 5 stations.

I connected this and without doing anything I went to 15 stations. When I connected it and just laid it out on the grass outside I got 19 stations with a good strong signal.

When I connected it to my TV upstairs I got 21 stations with no issue with the antenna inside.

My next experiment is to hook it up in my attic and connect it to multiple TV's and see what happens. Then I will mount it outside.

Can't wait to dump my cable for good - $100 in my pocket.

You can't go wrong for $30

Quick delivery - got it in 3 days with free delivery.

I will update as I go.

I did finally hook this up to multiple TV's but it did not work as well as I had hoped. I ended up getting a regular HD antenna and mounting it on my roof and that works great.

Let me first start by saying you haven't seen true good television HD (unless you watch Blu-ray or HD-DVD movies) until you get it "over the air." Cable and satellite compressed their signal before you receive it, "over the air" does not - the result - a gorgeous picture - the reason why you bought a HDTV. If you can find the right place for the signal (signal strength greater than let's say 65%) - the picture is beautiful. But that is where the problem lies and is why I rated this as average. I spent hours (and I do mean hours) trying to find the right "direction" even with my compass and compass heading directions from antennaweb.org. NO DIRECTIONS IN THE BOX, no documentation on the company's website and no idea which way is up, down or sideways (despite the picture on the box). Use in the house - forget about it - never could get it to work. I was forced to move outside (luckily, I could sneak a cable underneath my sliding door to the patio) where I spent more hours trying to find the right way to point this antenna. Even up high (underneath my roof) - I could not get a signal. When I finally find a spot, than experiment with another spot and then go back to that "found" spot - I can't find a high signal strength again. FRUSTRATING!!. Right now, I have it placed 2 feet above the ground, pointing horizontally with the right side of the antennae (the side that has the coaxial connection) pointing towards my compass heading. My signal strength averages about 60 to 80%. Oh, and I forgot to add - the antenna advertises UHF and VHF - I can not get the two VHF stations in my area, only UHF.Read more ›

when I received this it was so small I thought what a joke on me!! But I plugged into my tv and there was my local channel with this inside my house. The next day I put it on a 6 foot pole on my roof and got all he channels that I was looking for Plus a lot more about 20 so don't let the size fool you this is a great HD antenna.

This is an interesting antenna. There are no instructions and no warranty card. There is some printing on the box, "Germany", that may be where this antenna is made, although the company is in Ontario, CA. Their site is WWW.Lavasat.Com

That aside, this antenna is to be mounted as high as possible for the best reception. TV and FM radio frequencies are considered line-of-sight, they do not bounce off the atmosphere. The higher the mounting, the better the reception. If you have obstructions, like trees, houses, mountains, or buildings between you and your antenna, do not expect this antenna to perform miracles. If you think mounting it 2' off the ground will give you a good signal, please do some research on frequency propagation.

The antenna needs to be mounted vertically with the coax connector facing down. I also suggest you fill the male connector of the coax with silicone caulk, like one would use in a bathroom or kitchen. This will keep the moisture out and prevent connector corrosion which will eventually make the signal weaker. It is also directional, so you need to point it at the transmitting tower or towers. Tighten the connectors with a 11 mm wrench so you have a good tight connection.

I mounted my antenna about 40' high and the farthest TV station that I pick up is about 40 miles away. But, there are no radio stations farther away in the direction I am pointing the antenna. No loss there.

The inline signal amplifier must have power for this antenna to work. I located my amplifier near an exterior power outlet as the coax the manufacturer gives you is too short for my installation. The amplifier will also run on 9 to 24 VDC battery supply if you don't have an electrical outlet close by.

Do not believe the bad reviews. This people most likely did not connect the antenna right or did something else wrong. I use this antenna on my travel trailer and each place go I get more stations that my old one stopped or could not get. It is an excellent antenna and has done a great job for me.
