What makes this a good reggae album is I Wayne's voice and style. His uniqueness in vocal sound reminds me of Garnet Silk. But in terms of content and lyric, I wouldn't say there is anything new and ground breaking here; it's reggae, it's conscious, it's love, it's Rasta, it's positive, it's what we've heard before. Of course there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING wrong with that cuz the more you hear the messages, the better off you are. Also, his Singjay style is the BEST I've heard in a long time. No other artist comes close to his sound and his style. And he's added a new twist to fyah burning talking bout "lava" splash. This CD is all I've been playing in my car since I got it a week ago. My favorite songs are Bleacher, Don't Worry, Nah Draw Nil, Touch Her Softly (which I always have to pull-up a few times), Kid Artist, and Grow Proper (which gets the pull-up treatment too). Lava Ground, Cant' Satisfy Her, and Living In Love, all hit songs, I've been playing them since 2004 so I pretty much skip over those tracks. Cool as the Breeze was also out on his demo album and was one of my favs then, but I prefer the demo version of that song. Don't Worry was also on the demo release, but the new "Waiting In Vain" interpolation is nice on this official release. In essence, this is a must have album for any reggae fan and for anyone else curious about reggae music. You won't be disappointed.

I Wayne mash up di party everytime. This is a MUST HAVE for Reggae lovers. WOW, I was blown away after hearing this CD! If you don't own this CONSCIOUS reggae artist CD, stop right now and go buy it. No way you will be disappointed for real~ Selector...rewind...only every song you gonna want to do it~

The CD has no tracks on it that is not like the best track. Its very difficult to find the one single track that you like best. Iwayne 's voice is so calm yet so powerful and melodious in delivering the message via this CD. This CD is one of the greatest conciousness music I have heard since Bob Marley; Garnet Silk and the likes. This CD is a must have for your collection.

This is one of the best reggae cd I've heard in a long time. the tracks hit hard and his message is strong. if you are a true fan of good reggae beats and a mesmerizing voice than this cd is for you. he used a beat from bob marley's "waiting in vain" and it sounds like a completely different song. awesome.

first of all i wayne's voice is great and his cadence is on point. it's the reason i started listening. but after listening more in depth i saw his music has a strong sense of meaning and responsibility for pointing out the problems in his society. i am an avid dancehall fan but having i wayne as a way of relaxing and reflecting is great.

In what will probably be remembered as one of the best of recent years for the hardcore reggae fan, arguably I Wayne's debut, Lava Ground, is the crowning jewel of the entire lot of big albums released this year.

The 25 year old Clifroy Taylor burst on the scene in 2004 with as much fanfare as any singer to emerge from Jamaica since the late great Garnett Silk, with the massive Can't Satisfy Her (which he claims he has never written to date, just sings it out of his heart). The eccentric artist almost exuded an agressive moral standard as he almost immediately began aspersions on everything from the current state of dancehall to a harsh and controversial categorizing of soca music. One thing that became apparent, however, was the lack of controversy involved in his music, it was clear, across the board, the artist was on a different level than most of his contemporaries.

Lava Ground is probably the best new reggae album that I've heard this year and every time I listen to it, it gets better and better. His style is one of a singer on almost a dj's cadence, he can tackle riddims as a dj effortlessly and if it wasn't. . . beneathe him, I imagine he might be able to do the same to a full dancehall riddim.

The best tune here, without a doubt, is the title track. Its a beautiful song given the complete workout and one of the biggest complicated hits for the artist. The album has no bad songs, but in the running for second best are Can't Satisfy Her (along with its unforgiving intro: "Unu soon get disease and die!") and second single Living in Love from the massive Hardtimes riddim of late 04. My choice for second best tune on the album, however, goes to Nah Draw Nil one of the single smoothest songs that I've ever heard in reggae music.

Also check the big big nyah tune Kid Artist, the prerequisite (but still surprising) love tune Touch Her Softly, of course Cool as the Breeze, Bleacher, Conquer and Rastafari Liveth and I've basically just recommended the entire album!

Overall, given I Wayne's ultra-strict moral code, its almost unusual to hear the lyrics coming from a Rastafari that isn't a Bobo, but its just as refreshing. Maybe I Wayne will be the reference point for future singers just as artists like Buju, Capleton and Sizzla have been for Rasta dj's. The wait for the second coming of Garnet Silk is OVER!

This Cd is above average but not a classic. Half the tracks are skip-worthy but the ones that are good are GREAT. That's why I gave it four out of five. I-Wayne is very talented and he's got something we don't see very often..ORIGINALITY. He has a very unique voice and has well written songs. He doesn't compromise his Jamaican patois but at the same time it's easy to pick up on what he's saying. Best Tracks- Can't Satisfy Her(good message, good song, Living In Love and my personal favorite, More Life. One of the better songs in concious reggae in quite some time. CHECK IT OUT!!!

Roots and culture artists have long been a constant in Jamaica, from the influence of legends like Bob Marley to conscious roots dancehall singers like Garnet Silk. However, in the summer of 2004 a new and powerfully distinct voice emerged on the reggae music scene. With a fresh timbre, substantive lyrics, and a passionate performance, this artist has almost single handedly lead the new wave of roots and culture reggae music that has swept the island of Jamaica.

I Wayne, born Cliffroy Taylor in Portmore, Jamaica, has officially hit the international scene with his ..1 hit Cant Satisfy Her. This humble, 24 year old, singer has been the first cultural reggae artist to be added to Hot 97 in New York, a station notorious for its hip hop influence. Since then the track has caught on in several markets and has entered the Billboard Hip Hop/R&B Singles charts. The firey tone of the track describes the desperate reality of prostitution, poverty, and sexually transmitted diseases in Jamaica. His follow-up single has once again taken the reggae world by storm. Riding on the top of the New York and Florida reggae charts for more than 7 weeks and counting, with Living in Love on the Hard Times Riddim (VP2272) produced by Stephen Gibbs and Errol Thompson, I Wayne has already proved himself to be a consistent hitmaker.

Although he has seemingly burst onto the scene, this young artist has been refining his craft since age 7. Coming from a musical family, I Wayne had first made his venture into performance as a student at Greater Portmore High School, joining a local group Vibes Machine. The group, consisting of singers and DJs, used to perform afterwork parties at popular clubs like Cactus and Asylum. One night, the artist was forced to perform alone due to the fact that the rest of his bandmates were running extremely late. The response was tremendous, and I Wayne was motivated to perfect his solo act. He later moved on to chant with local sound systems like Diamond Cruise and The Legend, and has contributed significantly to the annual event in his hometown, Garveymeade, held on December 24th for the past 10 years. With an admitted affinity for love songs that highlight his ethnicity, I Wayne has a unique ability to compose and commit to memory all material without ever writing down a word for the recording session.

In November of 2004, I Wayne signed a record deal with VP Records to release his debut album Lava Ground, which will be in stores summer of 2005. The album will include the two hit singles Cant Satisfy Her and Living in Love and the title track Lava Ground (which has already started to show up on some charts). His rise to the top of the reggae world is unprecedented, and has sparked a wave of enthusiasm among the industry for the next generation of roots and culture singers and songwriters.

I Wayne is a unique singer. When I first heard him, I was taken by his smooth delivery and ability to ride the melody in the songs. Purchase this CD and you will not be disappointed. "Living In Love" is a masterpiece with profound lyrics. However, the whole CD is great, but has room for improvement. Real reggae lovers will appreciate this one. Yeah,Mon! Lava!

I Wayne's voice......the music, the stories. It is genuinely a start to finish CD. So very smoothe. The infamous hot track "Can't Satisfy Her" is a true reflection that this album has many great songs such as that one.....It's far from a "ONE HIT" album. It's a must for your reggae collection.
