nice while it worked,

I really enjoyed this lamp for about 2 weeks. then it began to take longer to start erupting; when it did, it bubbled for shorter periods, then finally the wax would lay at the bottom barely moving, Even the Blob in that old movie had more life.
To the company's credit, they sent me a replacement unit. This one lasted about the same length of time - worked fairly well for about 2 weeks. Now I have another Blob. I am really disappointed. I really want one of these, but I don't want to have to get a new one every few weeks. Maybe I should try another color? Perhaps the red wax was from a defective batch?

lava lava where are you?,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Got it in a delayed delivery, worked fine the first day, clouded up the next day, and just layed at the bottom of the glass and did nothing for the other times I tried bringing it back to life. I threw it away. Don't waste your money.

This lamp stinks.,

This lamp looked cool, but the lava did not perform correctly. It tended to coagulate in an immovable lump. Perhaps changing the name to Lump Lamp instead of Lava Lamp might be more accurate.

LavaLite sold their soul!,

I have one of the original large LL's purchased in the late 60's.
There is a world of difference in quality. The early, made in US lamps were heavy, sturdy base, well constructed. They had small holes around the base. The bottom of the base was plastic with little "feet" and the metal was thicker. Then, LavaLite became their own exacutioner and ruined their own company by outsourcing the manufacturing to China. Now, their lamps are junk, all in the interest of saving manufacturing costs. Obviously, LL does not care much about the quality of their products or satisfied customers, what a shame :( I am sure people would be willing to pay more for a well made lamp. The old lamps were pretty expensive for the time, now they are very inexpensive. I have sent numerous emails and letters to LavaLite and have never received a single reply. They are now made with cheaper materials. The wax and liquid are made from low grade materials making most of the lamps look cloudy instead of the nice clear liquid used in the original models. If you are stuck with a cloudy or malfunctioning lamp, check out the lava lamp chat forum at Oozing Goo. The site is loaded with how-to's for fixing just about any problem. Bottom line is, if you want a GOOD lava lamp, you need to find one used on eBay, one that was made before LL sold their soul to China!! Shame on you LavaLite :(

I purchased this lava lamp for my husband for Christmas. It was expensive! It was broken after one use. We plugged it in - unplugged it and the next morning woke up to this....

I ordered one of these for my niece for Christmas. It did not arrive until 2 weeks after. The first one was damaged due to poor packaging and returned. The second one did not work, the blob stayed at the top after it warmed up. It was also returned. The third one had the same problem as the second one. So I ordered one directly from the factory and it has the same problem. WARNING: DO NOT BUY THIS!

Lava Lite Awesomness,
This review is from: Lava Lite 52 oz Lava Lamp - Red/Clear/Silver (Tools & Home Improvement)
There isn't much I don't like about this product. The only reason I rated this a 4 is because I was under the influence that this light could be left on all the time. This is my first lava lamp, so my reasoning behind that might not be very creditable. I'm just not real happy about having to turn the lamp off every 8 hours, like the product's manual recommends.
Other than that, it's a great product.

I purchased this lava lamp as a Christmas gift. The description says Lava Lite RED/CLEAR/SILVER. The lava is red, the base is silver BUT THE LIQUID is NOT clear! The liquid is very cloudy and makes it hard to see the red lava!!

I bought this as a gift and the wax was so hardened that it would not melt. Not sure what the problem is but I wasn't satisfied.

Lamp came totally foggy. Not like the picture at all. Not worth the time and hassle to return.
