1.0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money here, November 22, 2005
By
Neil (Houston Texas) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Law Enforcement Assessment Center (Plastic Comb)
Not a good book, not a good book at all. I recently was up for promotion and had to go through an assessment center. I didn't know anything about them so I got this book hoping it could give me hints and actual practice exercises. It didn't contain anything helpful and in fact went on for almost half the book talking about what clothing to wear when in fact that was probably the least important category since I went in uniform.
The book only barely mentions the various exercises that the assessment centers can use and it also contained many spelling mistakes. It had a feel as though it were printed at home and copied at a local Kinkos copy store.
Don't waste your money on this one. You can go to the library and check out a number of books and get far better information than this one. By the way, I took a class on assessment centers put on by a company that travels the nation and got to actually practise the exercises in front of an audience, which is what you really need to suceed. When I went through the real assessment center I got a great score and was promoted. If I had only used this book there is no way I would have scored what I needed to promote.

Another good assessment center preparation book.

This has a lot of good information in it, and is a great tool for your promotional arsenal.
