4.0 out of 5 stars Sample questions
Mostly a collection of possible polygraph questions. Author seems to be working for the tester side, rather than the testee side. Since most people will be reading this book because they are about to take a lie detector test, this approach is not as helpful as it could be.

This wasn't a bad book, it has some information that you won't get from your application. But its mostly made up of sample interview questions and sample polygraph questions. When I actually took my polygraph it was nothing like it was described in the book. The interview questions are helpful, but they're nothing you can't get by going to different police department's...

Mostly a collection of possible polygraph questions. Author seems to be working for the tester side, rather than the testee side. Since most people will be reading this book because they are about to take a lie detector test, this approach is not as helpful as it could be.

Reading it gives you the strange feeling that you are being grilled. Still useful though, as it gives you an idea of what type of questions to expect and how to (or not to) respond.

This wasn't a bad book, it has some information that you won't get from your application. But its mostly made up of sample interview questions and sample polygraph questions. When I actually took my polygraph it was nothing like it was described in the book. The interview questions are helpful, but they're nothing you can't get by going to different police department's websites and download applications to look at.

The bottom line is it tells you what the police would want a prospective applicant to know, not what would have been helpful to them when they were first getting started. If you have no other way to get any information its okay, but otherwise I would not recommend this book to anyone.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not much information here., January 29, 2010
This review is from: Law Enforcement Officer: Guidebook for Background Checks and Polygraph Tests (Paperback)
This is a small book with very little information in it. Most other books pertaining to Law Enforcement careers will contain the same information.
