4.0 out of 5 stars A useful tool, but just that, a tool
Don't buy this thinking its the "Holy Grail" of interviewing and suddenly you'll be king. However, it is another accessible tool that will guide you through it, and prepare you for the generic questions you'll hear everywhere.

1.0 out of 5 stars Waste of money
This book is of little help. First off, it's printed like double-spaced paper for school, which makes it awkward to read. The index also does not provide page numbers for different subjects. In terms of context, I could have sat down over the weekend and wrote this book with no law enforcement interviewing experience. I am very disappointed.

Don't buy this thinking its the "Holy Grail" of interviewing and suddenly you'll be king. However, it is another accessible tool that will guide you through it, and prepare you for the generic questions you'll hear everywhere.

For me, it didn't help me so much as to what to be prepared to say, rather, it helped me gauge and read the oral board's reactions to my answers. If I was headed in the wrong direction, based on what I read from this book, I could tell. If I hadn't used this book to study with, I probably wouldn't have.

And then I wouldn't have scored #1 on my very first oral board, ever. :-)

I bought the book to review for an interview for a new position. It has been twenty years since I last interviewed. It was a good refresher, the 7 compentencies I think will be very useful. I think the book is geared more for first time police interview but I did find it useful for my upcomming sergeant interview.
